Initiate Data Connection - Picsel & Tethering

I got tired of starting PIE and waiting for it then closing it before opening tethering or Picsel, so I found this little program buried on XDA and mapped my Comm Manager button on the phone to it. Now, if I don't see the arrows above my signal bar, I just hit that button, and whala, instant data connection.

I tried to find the xda-developers thread and link to it, but couldn't relocate it, so I've posted the file here. Copy the exe to your Start Menu/Programs directory, and then you can map a button to it or add it to the Start Menu.

If anyone's savy enough, you could probably create a script to run this before Picsel or Internet sharing, but I'm not. Too bad you can't suppress the confirmation message, either.

This works great, thanks! I've been looking for a way to connect to Vision for Picsel without having to launch another app first.

No problem, glad to hear someone benefited from it. Wish I could locate the original post on xda to ask the creator to remove the confirmation message. Oh well.

Also, if you don't want to map a button to it, you could use this trick:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...tml#post648972
to add it to the included HTCHomeplug icon's on your Today screen.

Works great here. Mapped it to my mail button.

I get tired of enabling Direct Push and having to pull up ActiveSync to initiate a data connection -- have to do this about 50% of the time.
