How to transfer contacts from ppc 6600 to a ppc 6800
Hello,
Does anyone knows how to transfer contacts between a ppc 6600 and a ppc 6800, my screen on the ppc 6600 is cracked and not usable.
I also have the contacts saved on a sd card, the ppc 6800 uses a micro sd card.

Do you not sync with Outlook?

Hello,
First of all... thank you for the responses, however I'm still having issues, I installed office 2007,I can see the contacts in outlook, however I can not transfer them to the ppc 6800.
When I sync, looks like I have two contact files and they are not transferring between the two of them.
I'm going to have to do it manually.
Thank you.
You can do it through Yahoo Mail, import the addresses, install Yahoo Go Beta on your 6800, and Sync it to your Yahoo Addresses. It worked for me, thanks to another member's instructions
1. Line up the IR ports on your 6600 and 6800.
2. From your 6600 open the contacts application and select all.
3. Open the context menu and select beam.
4. Your 6800 will start to accept them.
user claims the screen is not usable which will prevent him from accessing anything screen wise. hooking it up to USB is easier plus he gets access to the SD card also...
I was also thinking about moving the pim.vol file. Would that work? I think they changed the DB structure and would need to AS his info in order to transfer...

I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's worth a try, but I would definitely attempt some sort of backup plan to CYA.

OK I have a 6700 but I can NOT figure out how to 'select all' contacts. Any more info on that?
With no screen access, outlook is the best way. Try deleting all partnerships. Create one for the old phone. Make sure the settings are to replace items on the desktop in settings on windows. Then synctheold on into outlook. Disconnect it. Change settings to replace items on device and then sync the new phone. Not sure why you are having issues, but work those out and go with outlook. its the best method and it will serve you as a backup in the future.
You could also operate your 6600 using a remote program, where you see a visual representation of your phone on a computer screen, while plugged in thru USB, and operate it as normal from the computer. Then sync everything somehow, maybe to Dashwire.com
The easiest way I found was to download a free trial of spb backup onto my old phone, do a backup onto your sd card. put the sd card into your new phone and click on the backup file. It self-extracts onto your new phone.
I had to find another way to trnsfer since I don't have Outlook.
The second one allows you to remotely view/control your phone while docked. I don't remember exactly what it's called, but I think this is it: ActiveSync Remote Display
I highly recommend the contact backup program, it's simple and gets the job done. I've used it every time I swap phones and it's been great.
The SPB Backup method is smart. Just make sure you only do a PIM backup as a whole system backup will not work from device to device or rom to rom. Also, you do need screen access to use it. The original question asks what to do as his screen did not work, but I think we are beyond the original question now and just discussing trf methods I guess.
If no screen then use mymobiler and the SPB Method or JUST USE OUTLOOK - lol.
