Okay maybe I am going crazy....
I don't see an Audipara file to replace. I have nothing with that name in my windows directory and I did a search for it and found nothing. I have a Mogul(6800) from Sprint. Any advice?

ok guys I have the Alltel ppc6800. I have in call volume issues as well!! I have checked everywhere for this file and cant seem to find it??? I am using Resco. Running WM6. This is the only thing I havent tried yet to get the volume up. I did the change values in the registry files but still doesnt seem to have much affect on the incall volume!!! So I figured I would try this. Can any one else with the Alltel ppc6800 confirm this works? Can someone point me in the right direction where this file is please?? Thanks inadvance for any replies!!
The registry does squat. I'm not sure if the Alltel ROM is setup the same way but I expect it would be. I even saw some custom ROMs that included the coarse file. Try using total commander (it's free, google for it). Resco probably works too, but you may have to set options correctly to see it.
Ok I now have 2 files in the window directory the original and now the course. I tried copy and paste but it wont overwright? Cant drag and drop through totall comamnder. So now I have 2 files in the win. dir. What do I do now? Should I delete the original or just leave them both in there? Can someone please tell me what I should do here?
I have copied the file to clipboard then pasted over the original using totall commander and it always tells me "cannot copy or move file" What am I doing wrong here?
If that didn't work I'm not sure why you are having a problem.
My only guess is that you skipped the Extended_ROM and never ran the AudioPara.cab. That cab adds the file to the Windows directory and we are replacing that file. If that file is not put there, there may be a ROM version of that file which can be tricky to deal with.
If it's a factory fresh image, a normal hard reset image or skipped extended_rom WITH audiopara.cab ran manually image you should be able to drop the new file on top.
Thank you for the reply! Dont know if you noticed or not but I am with alltel. Just got the phone the only thing I have done since i got the ppc6800 was update to WM6 through alltels web page. My Rom is 2.14.671.3 Radio is 1.40.00 I found the file with totall commander however I am unable to rename it to _orig but that should not matter right? I then put the course file onto my card removed the txt then put it in the windows dir. It is now literally sitting right under the original file. I have tried deleting it (original) it wont let me then tried coping the course file to the clipboard then pasting it over the orig. But it wont let me either??? Makes no sense to me??? Do you know or anyone here know of anyone with the ppc6800 from alltel that has successfully did the hack?? Seems everyone here is from sprint.
I forgot you were on alltel. Forget the rename to orig (copy it somewhere safe on your SD card). If you can't copy it either I wouldn't worry about it. The one you have may be a ROM version only, which you cannot rename or delete. But you should be able to drop the new one with the same name on top (don't rename it to correct name after, drop the correctly named file on top). The old ROM file is still there, hidden under it. If that still fails, I'll upload the audiopara.cab file from Sprint phone, that may do some magic to unlock the file so it can be replaced. Then you can replace it with the patched ones.
No gurantees this doesn't mess up your phone and you end up needing a hard reset. I'm covering my butt and trying to help. But it's highly likely you should be fine experimenting here.
Well that worked!!! I was able to copy and paste it right over the orig. after renaming your course file exactly the same as the original!! So now I will have to try this out now in a noisy envirment to give it the true test. Seems like it is louder now but not sure yet? I will post when I am indeed for sure this worked incase another alltel user runs into the same problem. I realy do appreciate your time and knowledge thanks!! This is the only issue i have with my pda if this helps i will never get rid of this device!!! I have talked to so many different people at alltel about this and not one of them has a clue or has heard of anything!! Just floors me that not one person in the us has complained about the incall volume to alltel!!! You literally could never hear anything!!!
Ok, here's an interesting observation from a Sprint Mogul User.
I recently upgraded my phone to the new Rom (2.16). With that ROM version, there was no audiopara file in the windows directory. In fact, that file was non-existent on the device. I used total commander to search and it came up empty on the device.
So, I downgraded to the old rom since the new one has issues. Still no audiopara file.
Finally, I hard reset and took the phone back to factory default and what do you know... audiopara file is in the windows directory now.
I'm going to try your fix and see what I think of it. Given that the updated rom blasted that file (on my phone) I hope future rom updates either increase phone volume as you have done or they at least leave the file alone so the hack can be applied.
Update: I just installed the file. It copied directly on top of the factory file. I used the fine one since I can't seem to hear it now and can't imagine wanting to turn it down. I honestly can't tell a difference in how loud it is. I'm certain I did it correctly... It even asked me to confirm the overwrite of the file which, of course, I said yes. I doubled check the file and it is there with the new date and such. What gives? Is it quite a bit louder or just a little?
Another question... I opened up the file to view it just to be darn sure I have the new audiopara.csv and it is, in fact, correct. It has the coarse settings that I installed.... My question is this. What is the max volume setting on the phone or do you know? Is FFFF the peak or do additional steps exist? I'd like to try one more step up -- basically shift all the earcup and bluetooth settings one more notch up and drop the lowest setting of 6000 (make it 8000) and so on...
That is the entry for the Blutetooth headset. Is there only one volume there? -- i.e. FFFF in there, or is the "HEADSET VOL0" the setting for bluetooth also?
Your Decimal values for the Earcouple (coarse) are:
65,536 FFFF
57,344 E000
49,152 C000
40,960 A000
32,768 8000
24,576 6000
You are using 8192 decimal steps between each volume. Could I go 11FFF for the top setting (73727) or is it maxed at FFFF (65,536)?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I didn't really notice any significant distortion on the highest setting...
I just wanted to let all the Alltel users here know that this hack works very well on the ppc6800!!! I myself used the course and now I can hear in the most noisiest conditions!!! Thanks again for such an awesome find on this!!!

The Max is FFFF. I did not do the SpeakerPhone to FFFF because I was worried I might blow it and it's already distorting anyway. The EarPiece I did max out to FFFF. Watch out when you reboot because it will set the volume to not be Max unless you twiddle registry too. Earpiece is definitely louder but it's not huge. Speaker phone is lot louder.
I experimented with Bluetooth too but I had no luck, it made no change. See my opening post.
For the record, the Touch has AudioPara.csv in Windows Directory. And the Factory setup sounds good. It might be worth diffing Mogul and Touch AudioPara.csv's
