Help!

I changed the current file on my device to what was suggested (AudioPara.csv_orig) and moved the new file onto my card. Using Total Commander, I moved the file to Windows. After that, I noticed that AudioPara.csv was put back into Windows and I am now unable to rename it. I tried deleting the AudioPara.csv_orig file but still could not rename or delete the original AudioPara file that was put back. I now have 2 files in Windows - AudioPara.csv and the AudioPara.csv_coarse_ear_extended_speaker.csv.

Any suggestions?

Also tried renaming the file using PHM Registry Editor and couldn't.

Thanks!

I had suggested the rename to .csv_orig to be conservative which I think is causing problems for some folks.

I think this file is a ROM file so there are really two versions. So when you rename another file magically appears.

The best way it to PASTE the correctly named file over the original.

Hey mswlogo, did you ever dig up that reg entry for the startup volume? I think you mentioned initcallvol, but I could not find it with a reg search.

I think it was key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall] and value InitVol. I now use "Profiles for Windows Mobile", and it has an option to set this with each profile, so I dont have to change the reg key anymore. I am not 100% sure about this key because it did not change when I changed my sound profile. However before I started using this app I had set it to max vol initially through the registry and I'm almost positive that that's the key.

Let me know if that works

I see the value in mine is at 2, that translates to one notch below max when I soft reset. What value should I set it to max it out?

TBA, It's really a choice between the last 2.

Read my update notes which try to explain the difference between coarse and fine.

P.S. Sorry I have not had much time to play with this further as my daugfhter has been sick. I think this file has potential to adjust a few more things, but I just have not had the time. I may get back to it soon, I don't know. But don't be afraid to experiment on your own.

i don't really hear a difference but maybe it's cause i didn't try it out long enough. Could it be because the initvol is still on value 2? If so, what should it be set to?

Coarse has a wider range and larger steps.
Fine has less range and very small steps. Fine can't go as low in volume as coarse.

The Max Volume is the same.

The reason I offser fine is as you get louder it distorts. Fine gives you very fine control over loudness and distortion. Where coarse may jump from moderately loud and no distortion to loud with distortion in one large step. Where fine allows you to choose a step in between.

Choosing between the two has nothing to do with initvol.

If you are new, I sugest you read the forums a little while. Learn how to install, remove software. Learn how to move files between it and PC etc. and get more comfirtable before attempting playing with this.

It's not that hard and has been explained in this thread but you need to understand some basics to be able to understand this thread.

Hack has been working pretty good, it certainly makes a HUGE difference.

Anyone else notice though that occasionally there will be a major crackling in the earpiece and speaker for the entire call, but once you hang up and make another call it goes away?

I find volume varies a bit on the Network itself without changing anything.

This has been my experience from day 1 with the Mogul. If I use a wired or BT headset, then there is no problem. Only get this when not using any headsets.

Increasing In Call Volume

I just picked up the HTC PPC-6800 (Alltel) last week and love it, the only thing that I do not like about it is that the ear piece volume is very low during calls (even when maxed out). It's not so bad if there isn't any noise around, but in a noisy environment it is next to impossible to hear the other party. I've searched through various threads already posted about this, but none of them have helped. My phone is currently running Windows Mobile 6. If anyone knows how to increase the volume in anyway (registry, using cab files, etc.) please let me know so I can enjoy my phone more completely .
Thanks!
