they keep it low for safety reasons and hardware reasons. they dont need people complaining the speaker was so loud their hearing has been affected, nor do they want to have dozens of phones returned because the speaker has been damaged due to the higher loudness. when we use this file we do so at our own risk....
Well, I've installed the coarse upgrade and I'm lovin' it. As long as there's no one around me whom I might disturb, I now listen to recorded books without headphones in all kinds of venues: while waiting for the doctor in the checkup room; while walking to and from the bus; while sick in bed (this morning), and while doing my business in the home bathroom!
Hi - I just installed the Verizon 6.1 upgrade on my xv6800. Should the audiopara.csv files (I like the coarse one) still work for my device after the upgrade?

I have the xv6800 with Verizon, and I'm using the 6.1 update. I installed using the cab installer from post 195, and that was the only way I have gotten it to work. (every thing else I tried made it so I had no sound at all)
I haven't tested it out completely yet, but the speaker phone and and earpiece seem to be louder so far..

post 195 explains all you need to know. just run the cab and thats it. its the course setting so the trade off is you get a little crackling all the way up but its a definite improvement over the standard volume. read the first page of this thread to get an idea of what to expect out of this file...

Hmmm, worked great for the earpiece, but now that I am using the phone...my speakerphone is ridiculously quiet. By speakerphone, I mean ringtones, txt msg alarms, etc... Even if I simply play a song in Windows Media Player, and have all the volumes up, it's barely audible with the speaker pressed right against my ear.
But earpiece during a call is great. BT Headsets during phone call are great, and BT stereo headset is great to hear everything including music. It's just the speakerphone for rings, alarms, notifications, etc that are no good. Any ideas?
no ideas.. my sound on the speakerphone is LOUD it crackles the speaker. are you on the latest sprint ROM? did you try to install this file or alter it in anyway before you did the cab install from post #195? this is a clean way to get loud volume. nothing is needed other than the cab install.
Nope. just did the CAB install. Didn't monkey with it. I'm running the newest ROM (I think). I was going to check into this. I'm running WM 6.1 ROM 3.03.651.4 Date:6/30/08.
This is supposed to be the latest official release. Now, I look on HTC's website and they have the same ROM version with a date of 8/6/08!
Any thoughts? Is mine the most current? Or do I need to upgrade (yuk)?
the cab is meant to increase the speaker volume in both the earpiece mode and speaker mode. it does not add any benefit to the BT section, just the hardware speaker. many upon many have had success with it. if your volume went LOWER than it was previous to the install, then there is something possibly on your phone that is interfering with this process.
Any thoughts? Is there another CAB file with similar settings, that I can try? I have seen numerous different Audipara files with different settings. Let me know what I should do next!
well did you backup your old file? if you did just copy and paste it back into the directory. if you didnt, try to reinstall the cab again form post #195.. the older cabs i dont trust since they were for older roms.
