I just got my mini-GPS and I'm having a hard time setting it up right now. Can someone please help me out as this is my first BT GPS unit?

I'm able to pair the device with my 6800. After pairing, I set up my serial com port to be 2.

I'm not too sure if I have to play with my External GPS setting.

I also have Mange GPS automatically checked.

I can't seem to acquire my position in Live Search or TomTom6. My Live Search com setting is at 2 as well.

EDIT: I got this to work finally by unchecking secure connections.

This is Chris. Has everyone now got their paypal button for this offer?

I have sent all the buttons that have been requested, I believe.

If anyone is still waiting, please send me an email to chris@freedominput.com and I will email them the button.

For those who have paid and have been notified by me that the goods are on the way, it may take up to twenty days to arrive. I really cannot make a call on this because some people are receiving the product in four or five days and others, like poor Kidmet, are still waiting twelve days after the package has been posted. But it will arrive, I'm sure. I have sent out many, many products now since the last week in July( when I first started this offer) and all the parcels have turned up eventually. Have a little faith in me. I cannot control the vagaries of the postal service but I will always look after you, promise.

Send a message via Yahoo to 8notime

I received my unit but I'm about to throw it out the window since nothing I've tried has worked.

1.) I paired the unit with my phone & added a new outgoing COM port.

2.) I unchecked secure communications as the poster above suggested.

3.) in GPS settings I chose COM2 for the program port & COM0 (the outgoing port I set above)

4.) In Live Search settings I selected COM2.

5.) In Live Search I picked the Select new Location using GPS

After that there is a long pause followed by a message that says location cannot be found.

Defective unit? Incompatible with WLS?

Heres how I got mine to work:

1) Pair w/ Bluetooth and enter passkey and make sure Serial Port is checked.
2) In your Bluetooth settings, click on COM Ports tab and create a new Outgoing Port for your GPS. I used COM8. Make sure you leave "Secure Connection" unchecked or else it won't work.
3) Don't play with the External GPS settings in the system menu. I have my program port and hardware port set to NONE over there.
4) In WLS, make sure your COM number matches up with what you set in ur bluetooth settings (COM8 in my case).
5) Make sure you give it about 45sec to a minute when you first turn on your GPS (cold boot startup) before everything is working.

I got mine to work in both WLS and TomTom6 like this. Hope this helps.

Got mine works great so far

Ordered mine last week, got it yesterday.

Paired it today. Had it sitting on my seat in the car, had lock on 8-9 Sats. (my old GPS had to be on the dash).

Tried it with TomTom and Google Maps with no problems.

So far so good

I have a problem getting mine set up. I found I can't turn it on till after I have my BT on my phone enabled.

It's been a real battle each time, I've been testing it around town. Works well when it working, but I seem to get to my destination before I can get the dang thing working. (configuring it at stop lights).

I couldn't get mine working with WLS and Google Maps either (although I believe others in this thread have). I did get it working with TomTom though pretty easily. If you have access to some other GPS software other than the two listed above, that might be a better test as to whether or not the unit is defective.

Got mine today. Absolutely awesome!

I have an i730. It paired immediately with it. Had to set serial port, then had to choose a com port (7). In my gps software (mapopolis), had to also choose com 7. Then, it hooked right in.

I have been using an iBlue GPS. While I love the battery life on it, it can be pretty flakey in acquiring satellites. I would have to let it sit on the top dash of the car, directed out the window and sit there for 3-4 minutes just to get a lock.

This freedom mini is incredible. Picked up the satellites, while sitting in my pocket. Quick and easy.

As a fwiw, the dc/car charger that came with the device didn't fit in my car (a Toyota Avalon). Used another one, with the enclosed usb to mini-usb cable.

Is the orange light on the GPS blinking on and off? If so then the unit has a satellite connection.

In WLS if you click on "maps" then go to menu and click on "center on GPS" what happens?

The process on the HTC Touch is:
1) Turn GPS unit on - Blue light will be flashing and Orange light will start out solid (on cold start)
2) On the PPC click Start ,Settings and then click the Connections tab.
3) Click on the Bluetooth icon and on the Devices tab click add new device.
4) When it finishes Select the GPS20C and Click next, enter the Passcode which is 1234 and click next again.
5) When it comes up with partnership settings make sure you tick the box next to "Serial Port" and click finish.
6) Click on the "COM Ports" tab and click on "New Outgoing Port"
7) Select the GPS20C from the list and click Next
8) Select an available Port (remember what one it is), Untick the Secure Connection.
9) Click Finish
10) Open WLS Click on Menu and Click Settings.
11) Under GPS Port Select whatever port you set up then click done.
12) Click on "Map", Then go to Menu and "Center on GPS". If all is working ok you you see a Red arrow appear on the screen.

If you see a Grey arrow then it is still looking for satellites. Check the GPS unit, if the orange light is flashing then it means it has a satellite lock. If it is solid orange then it is still searching.

What version of WLS are you using. If it is an older one try updating it.
