The On/Off switch on the 240 is almost flush with the side of the unit, so no accidental turn on. Also it has little rubber feet on the bottom and is perfectly rectangular. There is a little spot on the corner that you could put a keychain wire through, but I haven't tried that, it looks pretty thin.
Please feel free to start another thread on the GPSlim 240 but let's please try to keep this one on topic with the Freedom mini GPS. I really would not like this one turning into another GPS comparison thread, we have plenty of those.

Hi all,

Just to try and answer some of the questions that have come up.

WASS: The GPS is not WAAS enabled. There was a choice between battery life/size and increased accuracy. As the SiRF Star III gives great accuracy anyway it was not a good trade off (especially for a unit that will spend a lot more time then normal not connected to a power source).

Firmware version: I'm afraid I don't know this either but we will find out and post back asap.

With regards to software I'm still playing around with a lot. A lot of my general usage testing with the GPS units has been via a Blackberry and I found BlackBerry Maps and Google Maps fairly useful (though lack of voice prompts does limit them when you are driving).

Telenav at the moment looks like the way to go as it seems pretty reliable and has the majority of the features that I would use. Still looking at others though and any suggestions on good ones to investigate would be great

For the person that asked:
B-Speech model is an OEM unit for Germany.

You can buy the Mini GPS Receiver from the the Freedom shop on our website but you will not get the promotional price from there. If you want to take advantage of the offer, you need to send me an email to chris@freedominput.com so that I can email you a paypal button with the $89.99 price.

Anyone, what software is available that uses voice prompting through our handheld devices? It's going to be hard to "Just Say NO!" once I can hone in on software.

No need to be free, that would be nice but this is one arena that doesn't have many free avenues.

Thanks!

The image posted on page one is the unit posted on their site (without the Audi logo...I guess Audi did not like that).

I have no idea what that image is. The image I posted was on their site. If you look at the review links, the images taken of delivered units look like the first image NOT the one you are posting. Hope this helps. Maybe Chris or Paul can chime in on this issue.

You are looking at an old, early edition image. "Bongus" is right.

Chris, thanks for the clarification...can't wait to get the unit. When do you think we'll see a tracking number? I ordered one over the weekend.

When I ordered from Chris, she gave me a "Royal Mail" tracking number but it never worked and I am certain this was because of the strike that is going on with some of the employees of Royal Mail. I order mine on a Thursday and it came on a Tuesday so I would say give it 4-5 business days. I think Royal Mail's website says 5 business days as well for international mail.
