here's a sizeasy comparison I did of a box of matches, mogul, freedom mini, and holux240

Mogul vs Box of Matches vs GPS Holux 240 vs Freedom Mini GPS

Chris, I have some questions for you about this model.

A. Does this have WAAS?
B. What are the TTFF; hot, warm and cold
C. The latest firmware for the SiRFStar III is 3.2.4. What version is the freedom mini using?

thats all i have for now. if i think of anymore i will post. I just got a new bluetooth gps, but depending on your answers, I might give it to my mom and buy yours!

wouldn't you know it? I just bought a bluetooth gps the other day. I was holding out for a good deal since my last one just up and died on me. I can't justify buying another unit right now, but I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of theirs. This will most likely be my next gps unit.

Hi,

Paul has left for the weekend now (we are in the UK) but he willl get right back to you all on Monday morning when he gets back in to the office.
In the meantime, I am not a technician but...............
I can tell you that the cold start is 42 seconds, warm start is 35 seconds and the hot start is 1 second.

If you look on our website (freedominput.com) you will find the technical spec of the Mini GPS Receiver but I will have to find out which version of the firmware our Mini GPS is using.
The other Forum where I gave the offer price (I don't know if I am allowed to mention it here by name?) has done a review of our GPS receiver and there are other posts on that site from people who have bought it, sharing their views.
Hope this helps,

I love the sizeasy comparison you have done .

Best regards,

Chris.

I'm still recovering from the costs of purchasing 2 new phones and a 4GB microSD card. As soon as it's within my budget, I would love to get my hands on one of the Freedom Mini receivers.

We amended the instructions to make the LED light sequence clearer following that review. It is available to download from our website. I will ask Paul on monday morning to post a link to it on this forum to make it easier for you.

This link is very valuable. My poor 236 looks like a breadbox compared to these newer models.

The holux GPSlim 240 can be had SHIPPED to you all over ebay for less then $90. I have one, and like the stick gum pack size.

The On/Off switch on the 240 is almost flush with the side of the unit, so no accidental turn on. Also it has little rubber feet on the bottom and is perfectly rectangular. There is a little spot on the corner that you could put a keychain wire through, but I haven't tried that, it looks pretty thin.
