Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having a problem with our Freedom Mini GPS Receiver.

Paul, in our Tech support, is the person to help here but he is off sick today. He will definitely be around tomorrow and I will get him to look at these posts and come back to you. If you want to PM me a phone number, I can ask him to phone you tomorrow if that helps?

Best regards,

Chris.

Thanks in advance,

WRONG.

If you want to use Google Earth (I personally prefer Live Search) you have to have a data package because you are actually downloading maps from the internet.

BUT

If you run TomTom or any other local map based nav software, you DO NOT need a data package. By "Local" I mean the maps reside on the phones memory card.

I do have TomTom and sometimes use Live search but I really like both. For quick local trips I can fire up Live Search faster and get the exact location (Walgreen's on 30th) and turn by turn faster than using TomTom. I prefer TomTom for longer trips, out of state or when I have time to plan the route before leaving.

So if you don't want to spend $15 for unlimited data (what a steal) then you'll have to pay around $100 for any of the local map based navigation software.

No problem, I was new to GPS when I stumbled onto the Freedom Mini bt. The avatar is one of my toys. I need to update it, I added a TLR2 (rail mounted light/laser combo) to it since it's the "house" gun for the wife. (*suppressor detached of course)

Here is the US/Canada version TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems - TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 - Software & maps of the US/Canada on DVD

Yes I have one. I was one of the early purchasers before they were available through state side distributors. I has to be one of the best purchases for my Mogul (next to the Seidio stylus) I have made. It works great, and is very convenient.
