That doesn't work for me. The only Java app I have installed is the Opera Mini beta. When I select the shortcut you created I get an error stating "Could not find suite s1_". Any ideas? The other thing I'd like to try to do is set Opera Mini as the default browser, so email links would open in it. Anyone know how to do that?

that should have worked. what do you have in your windows\appdb folder? there should be some .jar files in there with one of them being the opera mini jar. whatever the number is before the s is the number needed in your shortcut link.
as far as making mini the default browser, you could edit the registry handlers for http and https to point to the shortcut I referenced above, but I haven't tried that myself.
Hey everyone, I'm also having the same problem at smeg... "Could not find suite s1_" I checked in my windows/appdb folder but I don't have any .jar files... my opera mini works and everything when I open java midlet then opera. Any help is much apprectiated. Thanks
Try changing the "1" at the end of the shortcut to a 0 or a 2, 3, etc. I had to go all the way up to 4 on mine and I didn't have any other java apps installed either.
Ok I did some more research I found out what happened from ppcgeeks. It was because I was using total commander and the quotation at the beginning was getting cut off so I did it with resco explorer and I got it working.
Thanks, everyone. For those who are inexperienced like me: I just used Total Commander to copy PIE shortcut from windows, start menu, programs, to "\" directory then used TC properties to edit target to \windows\jeodek.exe -run s1_ per above, then renamed shortcut to Opera and copied the shortcut back into windows, start menu, programs. It works great and as mentioned above, even has the java icon.
Jim
Just to make sure about the format of the icon files:
28#"\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_
the 28 corresponds to the number of characters after the # symbol, not including the space after the closing " and whatever follows after it.
The count and the # symbol must be included in order for it to count as a legitimate shortcut file.
