Look at my free RAM...

I have SPB Pocket Plus, PhoneDashboard, SPB Diary, Tray Launcher, and SPB Phone Suite loaded with my phone. Cleartype is also turned on.

I've disabled a bunch of services and startup items and items from HLM\init to attain this, without any noticeable functionality loss.

Programs start up and run a lot faster and smoother with all of this disabled, internet explorer is blazing fast as well.

I get about 25MB of free RAM on bootup, without disabling a thing. Typically, it drops to about 21-22MB after a few days and stays around there.

I haven't disabled anything and ActiveSync is the only thing running after the reboot.

What do you see after you activate Slide2Unlock? After a reboot I see 23.81 mb and if I activate Slide2Unlock it'll drop to 18.76 mb. I think it's still worth the loss as I don't have lots of programs running at the same time but I just want to see if you might be seeing the same.

I get about 16.88mb left after slide2unlock activates. I don't run a lot of programs at a time either so I have no issue yet. The lowest i've gone is 6mb ram left. But usually I'll already notice a slow down so I close some of the programs.

EDIT: So what would be the point of hacking the registry to get about 3 more extra RAM? Does 3 extra RAM really make a difference?

It's pretty consistent. It's about after 2 hours of usage via the web, phone, file explorer. IM+.

Also, i use sktools and memaid's FreeRAM options.

Note that when I say disable, I mean backup(export) then delete.

I've disabled the following services from HKLM/Services....

Windows Live=self explanatory
sqmupload=customer experience
SNApi
OBEX(most of you who have bluetooth dongles probably won't want to disable this)
DTPT(google searching indicates that this is responsible for some sort of DHCP activity, however, i'm able to connect to vision services just fine without it)
CERTENROLL
BTHIDSVC(my bluetooth headset works fine with this missing, i'm not sure if any other bluetooth operations are affected, as i don't have a bluetooth dongle for my compuer)

LASSD and NOTIFY are OK to disable if you don't, I repeat, DON'T use the "Lock" feature, which is found in Start>Settings>Personal. If you use this, deleting any of these keys will put you in an infinite restart cycle. However, if you don't use the "Lock" feature, and want to in the future, just import those two keys back into the registry and soft reset.

BTAGSVC = bluetooth audiogateway service. Don't mess with this if you use bluetooth headsets.

BTHASPLUGIN = can't disable this.

CREDSVC = credential manager. Don't mess with this if you use vision services or Phone As Modem.

PhoneExt = this has to do with the dialer and the codes that you use to access the EPST. Don't disable this if you use any of the phone features besides just the dialpad. Also contains errorcodes for the Sprint network.

Power = I just wouldn't mess with this regardless. It can't be disabled anyway.

SMSRetry = this is responsible for automatically trying to send messages if you're out of service or roaming.

Trusted = I just wouldn't mess with this regardless.

from HKLM\Init i've disabled...

PlaySilence.exe
uptimesqm.exe(customer experience)
TimeWizard.exe(googling has shown this to keep the time right after a cold boot[taking the battery out], however, my time syncs with sprint's servers)

Pretty sure anything else in there would probably put you in an endless reboot cycle if you disabled it.

Although what I may play around with is seeing if I can disable ciphase2.exe and ciphaseui.exe. When I do i'll post results.

It is general knowledge you do this stuff at your own risk.

Get over it.

Ohhh please.... You play you pay. He gave you plenty of warning to backup. Messing up is a part of the game.

Hopefully those who did some of the mods wrote down what they did

if not you just found out this is not for you.....

What exactly did you two delete?

Anyway,

I've also removed "SIMtoolkit" and "siminit" from "Trusted" in HKLM/Services.

I'm going to go ahead and assume those have to do with Sim cards and aren't needed.

None of the "OK-to-disable" items are crucial to the operation of WM6. You guys should have backed up before trying this anyway, it's editing the registry, who wouldn't back that up first?

Sorry to hear about the problems, although if you disabled any of the 'do not disable if ___' services then that's bound to happen.

Tests have shown that NOTIFY/LASSD are the main ones that cause the never-ending green splash screen, and that's if you have enabled the "Lock" feature in any way.

I deleted
PlaySilence.exe
uptimesqm.exe
TimeWizard.exe

They actually came back until I deleted the " depend100" along with uptime....

My reboots began after that. I left it alone. After the 4th reboot. it booted fine.
I did a little reading on the "sqm". There are several files associated with "customer Experience". I was not able to delete them due to them being "locked" in the registry.

I backed up both the files i Deleted LASSD and NOTIFY to my sim card. I went ahead and did a soft restart and when the phone came back on I could not get past the Green Boot Screen. I had to do a hard reset to get the phone to respond again. I only deleted two files and it bricked my phone. So I don't know what i did wrong I have been editing registry files since my 6600.

Do you use "Lock" (have to enter a password or 4 digit pin when you turn on your phone)? Josedogg?
