That settles it. The Class 2 symbol is definitely on a different part of the card than the Nextweb cards that we bought. This is what the SanDisk website also showed. I'm glad I sent mine in. Last thing I need is for it to fail - and fake cards fail. It's not because they're fake necessarily, and may not have anything to do with the manufacturing quality - the biggest problem is that only two manufacturers in the world make 4GB cards: SanDisk, and Toshiba (as far as I know.) This means that any fake 4GB cards are smaller cards that are rebadged and fudged with until their FAT32 headers read 4GB. This explains to me why my Tablet couldn't read it (had no problem with the 512MB card) - since Windows XP probably performs a few more consistency checks when mounting a volume.
IIRC, this has happened w/ other memory products through major retailers. It's not the fault of the retailer, somehow these black market products are getting slipped into the supply stream.
"We bought from what we believed to be reputable source. This could have happened to any distributor."
i would think that if i were to sell sandisk and kingston cards, i would order from the manufacturer - but i guess it could happen that there is yet another middleman in there
i think they are a fraud - i think they knew they were selling knockoffs - i also think amazon should go after them or at least remove them from doing business through amazon - for the fraud or stupidity of dealing with shady distributors
i know the connection between amazon and the companies that sell through them is not a tight one - i ordered 7 phones through amazon - they farmed the sale out between two companies - one being office depot - they never arrived - amazon said to call office depot - office depot could not find the order and to call amazon - two different order numbers and neither could equate the two numbers - they would not allow me to conference call us all together - to their credit, amazon refunded my money after about 5 hours of calls
Here are some notes to all buyers of 4 GB andisk MicroSDHC Cards
1) Most built in card readers dont yet have SD HC Capability, but these card readers are available from Sandisk.
2) SD HC Cards is NOT the same technology as regular SD cards, and that a device takes SD cards and not SD HC cards, does NOT mean its a fake. Some devices only support up to 2 GB, and NOT 4 GB
3) We have sold many memory cards, and have never had problems unless they were SD HC cards, because customers dont understand SD and SD HC are DIFFERENT technology and not the same.
4) Memory Cards have batch serial numbers, and NOT individual serial numbers.
5) I use my own card in Nokia N95 which support 4 GB SD HC cards,
6) There are different classes of SD HC cards, Class 2, Class 4, Class 6, etc,
7) FIRST OF ALL, Check compatibility BEFORE accusing us of selling fake cards, look at all the satisfied customers using compatible defices, and look at some of the postings that know what they are talking about, as these are indeed Sandisk manufactured cards.
Please let me know of any questions, as we are NOT here to scam anyone
There are NOT ONLY Class 2 cards, SD HC cards also exist in Class 4 and Class 6, please do some research before accusing to be fake.
Instead of you all speculating, just send in 1 card to Sandisk to verify these are authentic, We will cover the cost of your card, and offer full refund, so hoever is reliable, send a card to andisk for verifcation, and contact us, then we can stop all this non sense, and accusing us of selling fake cards.
All the cards we received are class 2. The thing that concerns us, perhaps more than the serials, is that the class 2 logo appears on the wrong part of the card. The SanDisk Class 2 cards pictured on the website all have their Class2 logos in the URH corner. The ones on this card are found on the LLH corner. That, plus barely fitting in the device raised concerns. I also had problems with the card in that SDHC readers (yes, it is certified as able to read SDHC). Also, the card would cause some writing applications to crash. It's entirely possible that the cards are from the manufacturer - to this end, I am sending it to SanDisk, who has offered to replace it. If they find the card to be non-genuine, I suppose they'll let us know. Nextweb, I'm not faulting you or your company, even if it does turn out to be non-genuine. If it can happen to us, it can happen to anyone. Either way, hopefully a properly-working card will find its way back here.
I have 1 supplier that I have used for almost 2 years, and every card that we have received from them have always been authentic cards, we have contacted Sandisk with all cards from each batch we have received to verify the authenticity, and again.
If 1 cusomer can send in the card they purchased from US, and not from another source, we will be happy to pay them for all their associated cost, and they can verify that these cards are authentic, as SANDISK will verify these cards are NOT counterfit.
Thanks for the post, and please keep in touch, and let me know what you find out so that other people can know, we are a legit seller, that has NEVER ever left a customer stranded , or has never sold counterfit cards, I highly doubt that after 2 years my supplier has turned on me, as we have done much business in the past.
A simple call to 1-866-SANDISK will verify that each memory card does NOT have an individual serial number, so go ahead and call and prove yourself wrong
After researching the subject extensively, there do seem to be batch/serial numbers on the cards. Unfortunately, from what I've been reading, this doesn't say much either - serial numbers are being duplicated. Let's wait and see what I get back from Sandisk.
i think its pretty standup for nextweb to register and come here to answer questions regarding the issue.
just a side note, but take a loo kat the sandisk card that came with the phone. my serial numbers on that card are very unreadable and faded, similar to the card from nextweb. lets compare serials numbers on those cards and see if anyone has a similar one.

0707801961C on my supplied 512 card
0707801961C on my 512MB card as well. Looks like they are going by batch numbers.
I, too, am one of the many who bought the 4GB SanDisk MicroSDHC card from you on Amazon.
So far it's working good in my 6800, so until otherwise, i'm satisfied and thank you for taking the time to reply back in your defense and to try and ease people's minds about this situation.
