i applaud nextweb for coming here and standing ground.
however, lets not speculate over how someone could fake a card or not. we don't know all the technology thats out there now so trying to explain away that a 4gb card could be fake is a futile attempt. whats more important is getting to the bottom of the issue and finding out with 100% certainty if these cards coming thru other channels are real or fake. just because sandisk mad a public announcement only a few months ago does not dictate how long they have had this technology in testing.
someone with a VZW card make an account with Sandisk support, and submit photos there for verification saying they got it from Amazon/Ebay, and see what Sandisk say
Neat trick--I bet the CSR would take the easy way out (claim it's fake). But what would that prove--the CSR is lazy or incompetent? It wouldn't mean anything conclusive. Only putting the cards in SanDisk's hands will get us the info we seek at this point.
Does anyone has the capability to open these cards up , and check it out (at my expense of course), as I no longer believe what Sandisk has to say, I had a friend call them, about a card that came from Circuit City (Verizon store inside), and they told him the card was fake, I know again this does not mean much, but I have absolutely no faith in Sandisk at this point.
Has anyone that has a compatible device had any problems not being able to load full capacity, or failure, or error etc, Please let us know. And is some technical person has the capavility to open up athe inside of the card and analyze it I would be more than happy to send them the card
I'm going to go out on a limb here and be perhaps the first to predict ALL these cards prove to be genuine. Why? I simply think the technology couldn't have been copied this quickly. I really doubt anyone othen than factory engineering personnel has a clear idea of running cosmetic changes to cards that have been shipped.
The real questions are: Who's had problems or failures? Under what circumstances?
I wonder if non-SDHC readers/devices are messing up the cards (even our phones?). Does anyone have clear documentation our phones are truly SDHC compliant?
I have just got of the phone with Kevin W , a senior manager at Sandisk, he will be calling me back today and a Level 3 Sandisk Tech will be calling me as well. I was told by Kevin that these cards came out for actual sale sometime in May, and we started selling them shortly thereafter. I was also told that Sandisk themselves officially dont yet sell them, but for example Verizon sells these cards, so some sandisk reps that work in the call centers dont seem to have much of a clue. I was also told that when a customer buys a card with phone from Verizon, and later sells that card to someone else, Sandisk does NOT Warranty the cards, in my opinion very bad not to stand behind their product. We always stand behind the cards we sell, and with any issues ALWAYS are willing to take back or exchange the card. I was also told by Kevin that one buyer had sent in a card purchased did not have the code on the actual card in the bottom left corner, and that was then not a card purchased from us, since all our cards have codes, or the picture was not a close up. Either way, I will saty in contact with Kevin and hope to hear back today from him or a L3 tech, and will post what I am told shortly thereafter, as I am now able to get more cards, at a slightly lower price, and am then able to pass those savings on to my buyers.
Mike, thanks for the update. Make sure they look at the images I posted. I took them with a professional macro digital camera, and am willing to take more close-ups if they need them. I can get as close and detailed as they need, it just takes me some time to setup the strobes if I need to go super close. I think what I posted is pretty clear.
If anyone returns one of your cards and it's missing the original packaging then I'll happily take it off you at a discount
I have 100% confidence in them (and you). No-one has pirated these yet simply because they are the very latest technology. It's just like saying that someone has produced a counterfeit iPhone !!

Nextweb
Thanks Mike for your extensive involvement in this thread. Knowing you're providing us with some support and customer service here, I decided to purchase one as well.
I've been reading all the posts in this thread since I received my Mogul a few days ago.
I noticed a few things while browsing through Ebay (UK site) today.
1) One seller has cards that do not even say HC on them.
2) Another seller has cards which do say HC and includes the aforementioned micromate reader.
3) Both of these cards have a play button instead of the class rating.
Not sure if this supports the theory that a) SanDisk put out different looking cards (perhaps for the European market) or b) there are already poor fakes out on the market.
The word is in, these cards are indeed AUTHENTIC Sandisk Product, I have talked today to level 3 Sandisk technical engineer, sent the macros taken by convergent to Sandisk, and they are authentic cards. Convergent should be getting a CC from Sandisk, to confirm this, and post it on the forum, and I want to thank all customers out there with positive comments and support, and the customers with compatible devices for their time, and postings and help, and want to again reiterate that Nextweb does NEVER deal with fake memory cards. We will be offering a discount on all these cards that will be available on Amazon starting hopefully tonight and will last throughout the weekend or longer. We ASK all customers to double check compatibility with devices before purchasing, making sure they have newest firmware on devices, and keep in mind that some device manufacturer represantatives dont have ALL the correct answers, if in doubt you can alwasy post on this forum as there seem to be many knowledgable people on here happy to help.
I want all the users on this forum to be aware that we have just dropped the price temporarily to $54.99 over the weekend, so anyone that needs one, feel free to buy one, just make sure to check compatibility first though, as at this price margins are just tiny.
