BT stack on the 6800 sucks - I sound choppy to my callers - bluetooth - any AGC?

Hello,

On my 6700 my callers never complained that my volume was fading in and out but I seem to have that issue with the 6800. Is there anything to make it steadier on the 6800? I tend to hear them fine but they say my voice is cutting out. I used this on my old phone without an issue. Tried two headsets - 6800 BT stack seems to have an issue with all of them - confirmed to be an issue on other forum.

It is almost like it only permits communication in one direction so the moment their is sound on the other end, my voice is cut off and my callers say I sound choppy.

Thanks

So it's up and down within the same call?

Might state what headset you using in case it's a trend with certain headsets.

I don't think my Sony HBH300 is doing that but I have not used it that many times yet.

Yes, I've never received a call from the 6800 so I can't tell you exactly what is going on but they understand you fine one minute and not the next.

I've tried it with the Plantronics 650- which worked great with the 6700 as well as the 665 and a Jabra unit.

Again - it is you speaking to callers where your voice goes up and down - noth theirs- when I am on the phone - they sound fine to me - it is the callers who suffer.

The thread on the other forum mentions several manufacturers headsets as well as automobiles - I don't think it is unique to any model or manufacturer.

OK - I got a better description from one of my callers - they say I sound choppy - kind of like bad conference room phones that cut off one caller if the other tries to speak.

I've found a place to post issues hopefully for HTC to see - http://www.htcwiki.com/page/HTC+Mogul/thread

I haven't found a support e-mail address for them yet - too bad - it was easy to contact UTSTarcom

Yes thanks- maybe it is in front of me and I'm missing it but I don't see an e-mail address there.

I can misplace a phone during a phonecall without leaving my desk so it is possible I'm missing what is right there.

I'm also having this problem with multiple headsets. I am with both the Plantronics 665 and 610. I've got complaints while using the Jawbone as well. I think my Jabra JX10 is ok, but not 100% positive. I've tried sending myself a message in the voicemail system, then listening to it to check the quality. The JX10 seems to be the only headset I tried that didn't fade in and out.

As much as I hated the BT stack in WM5 - the stack for AKU 3.5 was SIGNIFICANTLY better than the one for WM6 - I'd gladly pay $50 to get get a patch that made BT on the 6800 work as well as it did on the 6700 - I really hate pissing off callers who keep on having to say what? You keep cutting out - what was that?

i have only talked to 3 people on my phone since i have had it... each time it was with the jabra 8010. 2 of the 3 times i had the mono piece in... one time (the call im on as i type this) i have both pieces on. all the times everyone said i sound "regular", "just like your on the regular phone"... so maybe its a headset issue?

Possible but I doubt it. I've tried three headsets. Seems more common on longer calls. I've seen a lot of similar posts so either there are several defective units out there or the 6800 is far more picky about headsets than the 6700.

I have issues with this as well. Using my Plantronics 510, I get many "what was that" and "can you repeat that." Not good for my inner CEO (nor is it good for business conference calls that I conduct).

Ah well. It's a Media mogul!!!11

I did something on my headset (Sony HBH300) that I thought would help that I always forgot to do. I paired the headset with it 20 feet away. The reason I did this (and I DON'T know this for a fact it's just a guess) that BT has channels or some sort of calibration. It hunts for the first working channel. If the headset is close it may choose a channel (or not calibrate as much) that's not as good as another. To find the best channel I put it under stress (i.e. 20 feet away). I think you can only do this once (per hard reset, it will reuse same channel if you repair it). This is the impression I got browsing the registry on these a long time ago. I may be completely wrong. But it didn't hurt.

My headset seems to be working fine.

EDIT: I just did a quick google. There are 79 BT channels.

well im only stating my results with the calls i have made thus far. and at this point (im on phone call #4 as i type) i have not had any cut outs or issues... if we can remove the phones out of the equation it could be specific headsets.. i have the jabra jx 10 and bt800 and moto mini h5 but have not tried those yet...

Thanks - hopefully as we get mor postings we'll be able to track it down. I've made about 50 calls so far and have had about 10 people complain about my crappy connection (I didn't solicit info from all 50) they just volunteered - never had that with the 6700 in nearly two years of use. The people who complained were people I spoke to on a regular basis with my 6700.

It's not solely a problem with the headsets. It's something about specific headsets BT and the Mogul's BT not jiving well together. I've now tried out 4 headsets with it, and only one of them hasn't given me any problems that I know of yet. That's the JX10. The Discovery 665 and 610 both had this problem, as did the Jawbone. Additionally, I've noticed extremely low call volume on my end of the call when using BT. My JX10, which I've been using with various phone for a year now, has always been more than adequate when placing calls at 70MPH. With the Mogul I can barely hear the caller. I really hope some sort of solution or good working headset comes around, this is my only real complaint with the Mogul.

yeah could be both on the phone side and the headset side. but as of right now 100% of the calls i have made on this phone have worked normally with the jabra 8010. no issues or static. i did the marty mar BT reg modification and maybe that helped the issue...

Have you asked your callers during long calls if you sounded OK?

I'm not sure what that is exactly. Care to post what the hack is? I'd love to try it and see if it helps. It could be that your calls have been made on a Jabra. The only headset I haven't had issue with so far has been a Jabra. I haven't done extensive use testing with the Jabra yet though.

I have had this problem several times in my car. I have been getting a lot of complaints when I'm on the road during long calls. We'll be having a conversation and then somebody will say, "What's that? You're cutting out." I'll say what do you mean, and they'll say that they could hear me fine and then it was like they were hearing every other word. Then, it will start working again fine. I have an '07 Lexus. I would think it would have relatively current bluetooth.
