6800 questions

1 The ringer volume on the 6700 sucks ass, is it better on the 6800? How about speaker and call vollume in general as well. I found it is lacking on my 6700.

2 Is the power button still operating backwards? I.E. on the 6700 press the power button once turns off the unit, hold it just turns off the screen.

3 The specs says it supports java now, but how well does it do so. Does Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music work in the default browser?

4 Can you access internet banking now with the default browser, or does it still require a hack or the purchase of a new browser.

5 Movie playback with TCMP was really choppy on my 6700 unless I put it at a low qaulity, does the 6800 handle media any better?

6 Is the GPS real GPS or just a 911 locator? Can I install a GPS aware map and actualy use the gps in the phone without purchasing a bluetooth device to recieve GPS signal?

I think thats all for now. I'm looking to possibly upgrade, but before I do, I want to actualy make sure it is in fact an upgrade and not a side grade. Thanks in advance.

I can't answer most of those since I haven't recieved my phone yet. Everything I've read on the GPS is that it's just an E911 version.

There were discussions on cracking it somehow, but it seems to be a tower based one, so not nearly as useful as a BT GPS unit would be.

1. Ringer volume is fine, talking is just fine too. I am told I sound much clearer then I did on my old phone, speakerphone kinda sucks, too quiet.

2. Power button operates as it should. Tap once to shut down the screen, hold it to do a complete shut down.

3. No, it has java but not imbeded in the browser

4. Depends on your bank, mine works fine

5. If you encode your movies with DiVX at 320x240 I have not run into any problems with quality or speed.

6. HOLY CRAP NO! It is not a 'full' GPS chip like you want. (Why do so many people ask this question?)

Is it worth the upgrade from 6700? Yes

Thanks for the info. I guess it's not a good upgrade for me. I was really hoping for a phone that had GPS that was functional since the sprint site just says GPS, and not aGPS. I hate carrying around multiple devices so the blue tooth gps is no good for me.

GPS was kind of the kicker for me. Be nice if sprints site actualy advertised it properly as an aGPS unit instead of saying it has GPS. Thanks for the quick answers.
