Question for y'all with P4000s, is the D-Pad 5-way or 9-way? In other words, can you press diagonally and not just up/down/left/right and enter? This can easily be tested by creating a new note, then hitting spacebar a few times, hit return, create more blank spaces, and so on until you have 4 or 5 lines of blank spaces. If you can move the cursor diagonally thru the blank spaces (up and left at the same time etc), then you've got 8-way movement.
Of course if you have a game that allows diagonal movement, that's probably a better way to test. I use my 6700 to play games while standing in line/on long flights etc, but the typical 4way+enter type D-pads are lacking on a lot of games where diagonal aiming or movement is desired.
I would also like to know this. I thought I did read somewhere... (Think it was ppcgeeks) that it DID have a 9-way. It was confirmed on the p4000 so I think this is a hardware think and they have the same hardware so I think we are safe.

I also agree, i believe that i read somewhere that it is a 9 way.

Just played with a P4000 and can confirm that there are 9 pressable directions with the d-pad (N,S,E,W,NE,SE,SW,NW, and center press). However, I haven't really found a default application in WM5 the it works with (at least Excel and Calendar doesn't move diagonal) I'm assuming something allows it to work as a 9-way though....
OK thanks, good to know! There is an app/hack (can't remember the name- maybe KBfix?) that allows simultaneous pressing of multiple buttons on the hardware keyboard--wonder if it would enable the diagonals...should just be two switches being pressed at once. I have it on my 6700 and works well when playing games that require a button press while moving (running/jumping in Mario Bros. etc.) It also seems to allow two direction buttons to be pressed at once (see the notepad test above) but this is usually hard to do with the keyboard's direction arrows. Unfortunately it has no effect on a true 4 or 5-way pad because there are physical restraints that keep it from leaning diagonal and pressing more than one switch at once.
