I use TomTom software (maps) but not hardware. I have a separate bluetooth gps receiver. TomTom 6 is excellent. I've tried others but IMO TomToms maps and interface is superior (though they may be pricier).

Based on the little I know, a-GPS is not as accurate as standard GPS (like TomTom etc..) I've read comments about lag and such.

a-GPS is accurate within about a city block. True GPS is accurate to 1-10 meters.

Except that aGPS has the capability to use the same GPS satellites as "standalone" and at the same accuracy. I'd also take that "city-block" accuracy with a grain of salt, too - in NYC the VZW Navigator software is quite useable for point-to-point directions where my standalone GPS can't see enough satellites to get any kind of a location fix.

I happen to use TeleNav-- I like it better than TomTom because it updates frequently, and I never have to worry about trying to load up different regions and such. $10/month is reasonable to me considering my plan is only $45/month SERO retention plan + 23% discount. I ran up to Nashville and got a good hotel, great restaurant, and cheap gas (which is all updated daily!)... There's no subscription so you can cancel anytime you like BTW.

I do however echo the statement made earlier about the separate GPS radio-- I leave mine in the car but I also use it to navigate to clients in a company truck, and ended up leaving it in that vehicle more than once. Also it's something else I have to remember to keep charged up, and that gets old too... I really hope sprint didn't futz with the A-GPS chip in this--why the heck can the barebones "free" phones have GPS, MMS, etc on Sprint, and we can't even access the Sprint proxy to check our minutes, let alone do Picture mail, Sprint TV, etc...

There's no way I'll let Sprint nickel and dime me by charging me a monthly fee for gps service.
