P4000 on Sprint

Will a P4000 phone work on the Sprint network?

I believe the software for the radio would have to change and I haven't heard of anyone successfully flashing another carrier's radio software.....it normally results in a connectionless phone....or worse.

It would be ideal if all we had to do was swap ESNs, but it doesn't appear that way. Then there is the fact that no one has found a way to change the ESN for the P4000...yet.

The radio isn't the issue. The issue is getting the ESN into Sprints database of approved ESN's so it CAN be activated. This is covered in detail in the PPC-6600 forum when it came up about getting a Verizon phone on Sprints network and vice versa.

this is covered in a lot of these forums... its technically possible, but sprints strong arm hold on saying no to foreign phones they didnt subsidize or already have in their system (ESNs) makes this subject moot. 92GTA cant say it any better; im only echoing his remarks...

It is nothing to do with being technically possible (as it is certainly technically possible).......it is all about money. Sprint wants you to buy every phone that they will allow on their system from them. If they can't sell you the phone, they will not allow the phone.

It like back in the 1950's when AT&T would only allow you use a phone in your house or office that you bought from them. If you went downtown and bought a phone from a Woolworths or something, they would not let you use it. This practice was outlawed in the late 1950s. But this law does not apply to wireless services, so we are back to where we were in the 50's all over again.

So am I wrong in thinking this isn't an issue with phones whose ESN's *CAN* be changed?? I've seen online that there are ways to change the ESN on some phones... so at that point could you use an VZN phone w/ Sprint && vis versa... ?

Thank Guys. You're always helpful.
