microsd capacity?

Does anyone know how much the ppc6800 can handle? recently, samsung announced it has released a 8GB microsd card. I would love that sort of storage, although I'm doubtful.

Anyways, are we still going to be stuck on 2? Or, can the 6800 handle more?

Samsung hasn't released an 8GB MicroSD card, they just announced one. It won't be available till sometime in 2008 so the press release says.

Earlier this year at one of the mobile device shows, SanDisk announced 4GB card being release sometime this year, and it looks like they are finally starting to show up, although they said second half of the year for release. I personally haven't seen any available yet, but it's been said they are starting to show up on order forms...

As far as support for SDHC devices, it's yet to be seen, but from what I have read, then should probably support them, as the MicroSD format seems to allow for larger storage, especially on the newer devices, although until it's fully tested we won't know for sure on any device.

VZW has them in stock. Retail is 129.99. With my discount I got mine for 95. Currently it resides in my LG VX8700. The XV6800 will have support for SDHC. The SKU for the card I can get tomorrow @ work if anyone wants it...

I would imagine the 6800 being able to handle 10, 12, 16gigs... (when that comes out) With the new format, there shouldn't be much programing difference between a 4gig and over 8 gig card. When you hold it in your hand just don't sneeze or else it will float away like a grain of dust.... darn small things...

I did a search in the PDF file for the MSM7500 chipset. Other than SDIO this came up (RUIM, SD Card). Does this mean anything to anyone?

Never mind! It is like a SIM card for GSM. Re-Usable Identification Module is for CDMA but I don't think any CDMA carriers use it. Could be wrong though.

Yes it is like a SIM card for CDMA. Some CDMA carriers arround the world use it. None of ours do. I believe sprint has already stated that they will not adopt RUIM cards. They like charging $30 for an ESN swap.
