man, i still havent been able to successfully tether yet. ive tried usbmodem and pdanet (already expired now) an ICS and still no go.
i might as well call sprint to get my MSL number too.
boo.....
when tethering with usb cable, i don't use usb modem or nething like that. I just open iexplorer then go to internet sharing click connect usb/sprint and put the usb cable in . Then my computer (vista) sees the net connection and i can surf.
If I get the error 67 I will do like a user posted, ill go to airplane mode by pressing the button under the sleep button on side of phone, then turn the phone back on, and try again.
Now my problem is getting bluetooth to connect maybe i need to use usbmodem for that.
Try PdaNet 1.80 beta. Works fine for me including USB. I just use it for emergencies, but it is solid. The 1.71 standard version does not work well apparently. I am running Vista on my PC if that makes any differences.
after a hard reset, i got ICS on the phone to work. i finally got USB and BT tethering to work, but i keep getting the error 67 after a while. i didnt know about the flight mode then back to regular though. i just kept restoring to my last successful backup.
i have given up on pdanet for now. im going to wait until 1.8 is out of beta and give it another shot, but for now i guess its ICS and USBModem. thanks for the help everyone.
when you guys say you get the error 67, are you talking about only tethering?
I have no idea what happened, but I get error 67 all the time now! I cannot get data on the phone *at all* any more.
I successfully tethered my laptop twice, and now nothing. I can't reprovision. Flightmode in/out doesn't fix it, nor does a soft reset. This is rank :-/

Same thing is happening to me! Does USBModem fix this, or does this thing happen to it also?
I've had to hard reset my phone twice to get ICS to work, and then I get error 67 after several tethering sessions.

For you folks who are getting no data and 67 all the time........
you will have to go to "manage existing connections then select both connections (Sprint PCS and PAM) and re-enter your user name and pass word. Then you will be back to square one. I haven't figured out what is causing these to be wiped out. Either something with the PDANet after trial or just Spring slapping us on the virtual wrist. Could be either. If it's the Sprint thing, they probably want you to call tech support and be told that you need a PAM plan (total speculation). It could be, however, that June Fabrics wants to make sure that you are not able to cheat with their software. Or, maybe, I really am stupid like I always thought and it's neither. Regardless, now you have the fix.
fyi: a hard reset will restore the vision user data for you, but is VERY invasive and time consuming as you have found.........

Even if you paid the full rate PAM plan, Sprint does monitor your usage and will send notices if you exceed a certain bandwidth.
I know Verizon does that (5GB per month) but I've never heard of Sprint sending a notice for internet use with either a PAM plan or data card plan - sheureka
all i can say is backup. when your phone is at a state when it can connect properly, back it up so u can restore if lu ose your connection. ive had to do it a number of times before i ditched ICS all together and used usbmodem.
i find this problem very annoying, but usually i will flight/phone/soft reset and im back up and running.
also, does anyone find it wierd that when tethering with usbmodem, the phone doesnt tell u that its connected to the internet?
I have been using my Mogul/6800 via PDAnet on my Vista Laptop connecting via USB. Works Fine. I have the SERO plan with unlimited data on the phone so no extra billing via PDANet.
However I have problems connecting my Mogul/6800 via BT & active sync. This means that PDAnet connect via BT does not work. I also have not been able to get the DUN to work.
Any1 else who has a BT & Active sync working on the Mogul & Vista ?

had similar problems with my Q and Vista.. you have to make sure the bluetooth imcoming port is the same you select in activesync ..hope this works!
It also took me a while before I could get my Sprint Mogul to tether. I tried PDANet and USBModem and for some reason could not get it to work. But as so many have suggested I did the following and finally got it to work. I made sure all three keys in WModem were set to 0. Then I connected to SprintPCS first by starting PIE. Then I went to ICS and had USB/Sprint already chosen then clicked Connect and when it says check USB cable or something to that effect I plugged in and within a second it said connected. I was surfing on my laptop tethered without any additional software. I should also add that I did not have to put a username or password under connections for SprintPCS just left it blank and the best thing is I'm getting 1mbps average tested from speedtest.net and dslreports.com/mspeed

Yes the speeds are amazing.. It almost seems just as fast as wifi. Its like having an aircard/pda/phone in your pocket.. lol

since nobody on Sprint ever has, or needs to use, a Username and Password you might elaborate a bit on exactly what you're talking about here.

Could you be more specific here? Where do we get our username and password from? Are these our phone number and the password we have with sprint when we call them?
I had most of these problems, using USBModem, but got it working. I got the error code 67, couldn't connect using PIE, so I "restored" from a backup a few hours old, and reinstalled USBModem. My solution was to start USBModem, hit "Enable" with USB selected, then connect from the computer using #777 with no username or password.
The previous post was from my cable connection, this one is from the Mogul. I did a soft reset just for good measure, opened USBModem, clicked "Enable" set to USB, and clicked the PC's desktop icon I have to dial Sprint at #777 with no username or password. I got Error 67, and hit cancel, NOT redial. I think this was because Activsync had things tied up due to the soft reset. I clicked the Sprint Icon again, hit Dial again, it connected right up. Again, I DON'T do anything with enabling or connecting through "Internet Sharing". It's status, both before and after connecting through USBModem, is "Disconnected". The PC Connection box in Internet Sharing happens to be set to "USB" and "Phone as Modem", but it shows "Disconnected". I "enable" only through USBModem after doing a soft-reset (I don't think it's really neccasary to reset), connect from the computer, and it works. This post is the proof
BTW, I'm on 1x where I live, not EVDO. I tried calling my phone, and it went straight to voicemail the 1st time. I tried it again, and it rang through. Not sure why. Now if this post comes through, it's back to being a modem - here goes.....
Okay, same behavior. 1st try, straight to Voice Mail, 2nd try, rang through, and this time I answered it. This time, it DIDN'T go straight back to being a modem. I tried disconnecting, then reconnecting from the PC, then disabling and re-enabling USBModem, then turning the "phone" off and on again in Comm Manager, nothing worked. Did a soft reset, opened USBModem, hit "Enable", clicked my Spring icon on the PC (dials #777, no username or password), and I'm back online.
This weekend, I'll try all this on EVDO when I'm in the Bay area
Back on cable now for the speed compared to 1x. This is another important thing. Install USBModem through the .exe file from the PC, so that the drivers will be installed on your PC. I 1st had done it manually, copying the cab file over and manually installing the drivers, and something screwed up, so that I couldn't even connect my Mogul anymore by itself, which led to the previously mentioned "restore" (I use SPB backup). I strongly suggest you do a backup 1st, in case you or something screws up. USBModem trial comes with both an EXE install and a CAB install. I strongly suggest using the EXE method
