i just got my 6800 in the mail an hour ago, i replaced my i760 with the 6800. I currently have it tethered to my laptop using pdanet, i am running windows vista. I just plugged in the usb cable and it was instant connection. i have never had a problem using pdanet.
I have had PDANET with my I760. just received my Warranty replacement 6800 and PDAnET works great here as well.
PDANet works fine for me too. I am running 1.80. They have a version 2.00 out last time I looked, but was not clear there were any advantages. My only gripe is that at times if I close the connection, it will not reopen. PDAnet says it is because the phone closed in an unusual manner and they cannot avoid that. I would pay extra if I could just turn on and off at will.
I just got a new PC and tried pdanet to get on the internet and when you click on a browser it pops up a verizonwireless page that wants you to accept a tethering fee on your monthly wireless bill. Anyone else had this? I was just using another PC last week and was getting online with no problems. Are there any hacks for this?
Am I the only Verizon customer having this issue using PDANET? I don't think so. When you click on the internet it takes you straight to a Veizon user aggreement for a $15.00 tethering fee. It looks like when you use a hotel internet without entering the pin. All you get is a proprietary web page.
Of course that's what it looks like because that's wht it is...a proxy that VZW puts up on their tethering IP which is where your PDA is connecting to for some reason. And it shouldn't be doing that but rather pointing to the phone IP instead. Do you have your phone set as "modem" through ModemLink or something like that? If so turn it off before starting PDANet.

Thanks for the help. I reinstalled PDAnet and it 's working now. I thought VZW had blocked third party apps like PDAnet from working. I think it got messed up when I was trying to get a bluetooth connection. I still havenot figured out how to hook it up via bluetooth. I've tried to get an active sync connection but it wont connect through bluetooth. I'm running 6.1 upgrade.
Just in case anyone runs into the same problem I had. (Internet Sharing disconnects within minutes on windows mobile (2 - 30).. If you can actually get on the internet, and then it disconnects, the problem is more likely to be your pc. I put this here, because I had read some posts where people had the same problem, but no one really came up with a good solution. So after frantically searching google and reading about a zillion forums to find the answer, I realized that my task bar would freeze whenever I got disconnected. So I ran a search on task bar freezing (and boy did that come up with a lot of different scenarios).. So thinking it might have something to do with the task bar, I went into Network places on the PC, and selected the Local Area Connection that was my phone, went to properties, and un-selected "show icon in notification area when connected", and voila! that worked. I was on for about 2 hours.. then it crapped out again. So I saved all of my work, and did a fresh install of XP (I chose the option to not Format - just to re-install the existing XP files)... Once that was complete, I no longer have the disconnect problem. You may not have to re-install XP like I did, but it sure beats trying out different scenarios to see which one is the culprit. But you could check spyware, viruses, etc.. Sometimes your antivirus program or spyware program may see a needed system file as a threat, and that could be it. Like I said, could be a number of things, but the problem lies within your pc.
