All i can say is this: I've used WmWifiRouter for the last 6 months and would never use anything else. I'm guessing it would get around their ICS check, but it's well worth the try. WMWifiRouter - Welcome Download the trial v1.05 and try it before installing PDANet.

Thanks. I will try it out. The other thing... I could not find Internet Sharing at all on my Verizon device. Could you tell me where to locate it on the device or where to download it from?
Thanks!

I can vouch for USBModem.

I have been using it (both BT and USB) for a year without issues.
USB works more reliably for me, and since I am a heavy user, I have settled to always using USB instead of BT.

BT has always been slower and of course drains my device while USB is faster and recharges the device.
I can live with the cord.

Unless I'm blind, I don't think ICS Control has come up in this thread. ICSControl is free, and has all the features of WMWifiRouter (commercial) and PDANet (commercial) and more. It also doesn't require installing ANYTHING. It's a single EXE file to run on your PPC that can be found here:

ICS Control v.21 - utility for controlling internet connection sharing - xda-developers

I've used all the apps most people mention and while this is the "ugliest", it works wonderfully. Here's the best settings to use with the Mogul:

For USB Tethering:
1. Ensure Advanced compatibility is checked under the USB to PC settings for your Mogul
2. Start ICS Control
3. Scroll down, hit Set All Defaults
4. Choose Cellular Line 1 for Public Interface
5. Choose RNDISFN1 for Private Interface (that's the USB port)
6. Check Set Private IP and select the IP range you like (I use 192.168.0.1)
7. Check Auto Connect to Network and choose Sprint
8. Uncheck Allow Suspend Mode
9. Hit Save, so you don't have to do the above anymore
10. Hit Start ICS (there is no confirmation that it starts)
11. Connect your USB Cable
12. The first time, you may have to go enable the WM Network Adapter in your XP or Vista network control.

For Wifi Tethering:
1. On the PPC, goto Settings/Connections/Wifi
2. Under Networks to Access, choose only computer to computer
3. Add New
4. Choose a network name and select Work as the network to connect to
5. Check the "this is a device to device connection" box
6. Set up Wifi security however you like
7. Follow steps 2-10 in USB tethering, except select TNETW12511 (Wifi) for the Private Interface
8. Connect to the Wifi Network

I'm sure you can figure out BT after you've done those.

Rev A was introduced a couple of ROMs ago. The tethering speeds are definitely better. The biggest improvement that I noticed was the upload speed.

There were a couple unanswered posts about tethering with Vista. My T61 works fine with USB tethering after deleting the registry key as described. However, I have to start "Windows Mobile Device Center" before I plug in the USB cable, so it's.

Start ICS and hit the connect button while you start WMDC on Vista.

When it says "check USB cable", then plug the USB cable in.

Hope that helps someone.

I upgraded to 6.1 and was tethering with the old registry hack before. Didn't work after upgrading but still had PDAnet and since it worked, and worked well, I have never bothered to go and try anything else. The good thing about PDAnet is that you can still use ActiveSync to move files while tethering. With the old hack, your phone was a modem and that was it.

pdanet

ok so i have my 6800 up and running using pdanet. I was playing around with version 1.8 and the new 2.0 for windows vista. Anyone notice if 1.8 gave you faster download speeds??? i am kind of baffled by this. Using the new 2.0 version i was not able to get anything to download faster then 80kb/s. Using 1.8 i can get steady speeds of 120kb/s. I upgraded the rom to 6.1 with rev-a. So my question is actually 2 questions. Anyone know why there is a speed difference between the 2 versions and are my download speeds consistent with that of rev-a??? if anyone can help i would be more than happy to help you out when i can.

I did the registry hack on my Mogul about a month ago. I was able to use bluetooth to to get internet access, and i plugged the usb cable into the phone and my vista laptop and was able to sync the phone to the laptop at the same time.

I tried pdanet but it was very slow for some reason.

hvacmike are you saying your Downloads are faster with the registry hack? or you just saying that pdanet was just a slower program for syncing and getting things up and running???

For me the registry hack is faster than pdanet. I do not now why though. I used both in the same area and pdanet was pretty slow.

Same problem here. Has anyone else been able to use ICS Control on the 6800?

It sounds like VZ doesn't contain that needed file. If you search the thread linked in my previous post at xda-developers, there was a link in there for the IPNAT files.
