Any trick to getting PDANet to work with the 6800 and XP? I installed the software on phone and PC, they see each other and say are connected, but when I tell PDANet to "connect" so that I surf, it says "connecting to data network" then gives me an error message on the PC that the modem is busy. If I try it again, it gives me another error message on the PC that PDANet may be incompatible with my device. I've tried numerous resets, turning off firewall, etc, but just cannot get it to successfully negotiate a data session.
When I tried to install PDANet onb my Mogul, I was told that PDANet doesn't support Windows Mobile 6
i just signed up for Verizon tethering or whatever it's called for my laptop when i 'm on the road, the first month is free. Maybe that explains why some of you are not getting a bill when not using the VZ Access manager software
I have questions that I haven't been able to find answers for in this thread. Yet.
I have an OLPC XO, which runs a version of Linux. It's the mini-sized Linux laptop, with 1 GB of flash storage rather than a hard drive. It was designed for educational use in developing countries, and it has since spawned commercially-available mini-sized laptops like the Asus Eee.
I would like to tether a VX6800 to the XO. What, if anything, needs to be installed on the laptop in order to be able to do that? There's no CD/DVD drive on the XO, so anything I'd need to install would have to be on an SD card, USB stick, or downloadable from the internet.
I have been googling all over the place for information, and I've come up empty-handed, so I figured the 6800-using community would be the best place to turn for information.
I found copy of v0.91 its out there if you need it, I don't yet, because I have not bought a PDA phone yet.
Where did you find it? Please post the URL. Thanks.
So far, all the links I've tried to follow have connected back to the wmwifirouter.com site, which currently doesn't have anything on it but a message that it will be back soon.
After reading this entire thread. I could not find an answer to why my PPC6800 disconnects every 5 minutes from my USB PAM connection. I am paying $39 for PAM through sprint.

wow, you are like the only member paying for pam. there is no need for that.
Yeah not in the mood to hack like you guys. Beside its only 40 bucks. I fill up gas 4 times a month in my new car premium for $75. What is another $39.99. lol.
Well, whether it's $40 bucks or free, it shouldn't be disconnecting like that. I'm assuming you are using the ICS app over the PAM connection. Try using the other one (whatever it's called) and see if that works.
If not you should call sprint because the NAI is not seeing a properly provisioned account and is kicking you off. Sprint may need to enable some feaure or other in their billing system to make PAM work correctly for you.
Oh, and the $15 i pay to VZW to tether is worth more to me than burning $40 bucks on a tank of rip-off gas.
Here's my question. I have ICS up and running fine on my VZW XV6800. It was very straightforward. But what annoys me if that if I want to tether via BT, before I connect using the DUN icon on my laptop, I first have to go to the XV6800, start up ICS and then select CONNECT. Then, when I'm done, I have to disconnect on the ICS app after I've disconnected on the laptop.
That seems a whole lot more involved than I would prefer. Can I automate this?
My ideal example is my Treo 700P using the Palm OS. All I do is select my DUN icon on my laptop, it connects to the 700P via Bluetooth, I do what I need to do and when I'm finished, I just select DISCONNECT on the DUN icon. I never actually touch the Treo 700P to do any of that.
Basically, I just want to use the phone as a data gateway, nothing more.
Am I missing something basic? I've been using Palm OS devices for years and this is my first WM phone. It's a lot more powerful, but ridiculously more complicated.
On a side note, the BT tethering speeds were nice. Let's hear it for BT 2.0! I was getting ~550 kbps on the XV6800 where I would typically get only ~210 kbps on my Treo 700P with its BT 1.2 radio.
first connect your data connection on your Mogul before you connect phone to computer then open internet sharing folder from program folder check you setting it should say pc connection (usb) and network connection (sprint pcs) now connect your phone to computer as soon as your computer respond click connect on your phone you should be connected.
