What's up guys and gals? I received my M1200, my TomTom Nav 6 software, and my 4G mini SD. The M1200 and TomTom Nav 6 were very easy to set up and pair to my Mogul. I tried them out on the way in to work this morning and they worked like a charm. I work in downtown DC, which has some of the worse traffic and screwed up roads in the country. I'm using my trial TomTom Plus and it discovered all traffic incidents and delays. There was no need for me to alter my routes, but the options were available! Needless to say so far so good. If I have any issues I will be sure to let you guys know. By the way, today is my 5th wedding anniversary and my wife herd me talking to a friend about the Slingbox and she bought me one for an anniversary gift. I'll have to report back on how it works. I'll be using every bit of my 4 gig card by the time it's all said and down. I heard the Slingbox has some issues on the Mogul so I will have to see. I could have used the Slingbox yesterday after spending 5 hours on the road and missing all the games! Still loving the Mogul!!
Is Sprint still planning a "consumer launch" (or relaunch) of the Mogul? If so, what's the latest on dates? Will it be when they have the RevA update ready?
Engadget mobile has reported on the Q4 offering on Sprint and blog entry does not have the word "rumor" on its heading.. which means that its CONFIRMED!
Check out the site and look at the pictures of the 4 new upcoming devices on Sprint including the much sought after HTC Touch... yup!!
And now, officially I'm disgusted with Verizon as this being my first post in like a year or something is solely due to the fact that I've blown my top and am proposing to all current Verizon PDA owners..
LETS DO A MASS SWITCHOVER.... think about it! The only thing Verizon and us humble and loyal customers have been able to tout is "SUPERIOR SERVICE".. but whats that any good when you have good 2 generation old devices to use their service on.
I have already convinced my brother and my dad to do the same mass switchover and togther with our significant others' we are talking good 6 lines that I'm not surely gonna switch over to Sprint once the Touch comes out. After all, its pretty clear that Sprint wants to focus on bringing new and exciting devices to its customers as soon as it can and I'm sure will continue to do so.. And if Verizon is just going to have their weekly round table corporate meetings brainstorming about which new part of civilization can we send our dorky tech guy out so he can phone us back and ask Can you hear me now?!.. then.... [you fill in the blank here]
I mean c'mon Verizon..... "can you hear me now????!"

I had my reservations about going back to Sprint, but their network, at least in my area (DC), is just as good as VZ is. I have taken a road trip to the VA Beach area and used my phone the entire trip down and back and not one dropped call! From what I can tell VZ can’t necessarily say they have the best network any more. Sprint, in my opinion, are their equal from were I'm standing and they have BETTER PDA PHONES with new ones to come. I'll be in California next week and Texas (to see the Cowboys!!) a few weeks after that and I will be able to test the phone out and report back to you guys. I switched over about 3 weeks ago and I'm loving Sprint so far. I think you and your family will be happy with the switch.

I would love to agree with you, but unfortunately I'm stuck as I have a 5 person plan (it would cost me a fortune for early terminations) and two of those members are in Alaska where only Verizon and Alaskas companys have coverage. I 100% agree that Vrizon has dropped the ball for its users and it doesn't look like they are working to pick it back up.

I have a Verizon PN-820 which was my first entry into the smartphone world. I am fairly computer savvy but just didn't take the plunge until this year. Now that I've had it for 6 months, I realize that as a PDA it's kinda useless. I can't write on it, really edit anything and obviously can't use a stylus.
I've been waiting for the VX6800 but have given up and am leaning toward switching to T-Mobile and getting the Wing... I don't have a data plan and all my syncing occurs via USB port... I wasn't planning on getting a data plan with T-Mobile but the phone rep said if I didn't I was basically wasting the phone (not using half the features...)
So here are my questions...
1) Should I stick it out and wait another 6 months for the damn 6800?
2) go to t-Mobile and get the Wing without a data plan?
3) or switch over and get the cheap data plan?
The main things I need are the use of a stylus, calendar and task functions, ability to sync with Outlook and good enough reception to handle 3 or 4 national trips a year......

thanks for any advice!
If your looking at the wing, whats that different from the touch? At least then you could go SERO and get it all fairly cheap (+still be on CDMA). If thats Sprints true lineup (above posts). With what you said you needed I'd debate even needing the data plan. I'm fairly certain the wing has WIFI. Just connect on hotspts.

So are we the apple or do we get stuck with the charcoal???
hey guys.
this is my first post.
ive been keeping up with this thread for months now.
but.
i just read in the forums on phonescoop.com..some guy claiming that the XV6800 and i760 dummy phones were just received and are in the store. usually when they are recieved...does anyone know how long before release date??..
btw. i dont know if that dude is a good source or not so i didnt get my hopes up.
I have a few connections in the b2b department. One of them is a vzw executive and he has been calling me every week or so with an update on the XV6800 launch. They will release the XV6800 to b2b channel very soon. Our company already has them on-site for testing. He just called again today but I was on the other line so I missed him. Everything I have been told so far puts the b2b release within the next 1-2 weeks, definitely before end of September. If the price is reasonable ($400 or less with contract) then I am going to snag one, otherwise I will wait it out for a price drop. I love my XV6600 and it is still rock solid but even though I hacked it, installed all sorts of stuff on it, and purchased every accessory known to man, in the end I really only used a few features with any frequency:
cell phone (of course)
bluetooth headset / handsfree car connection
outlook email with POP3 account and wireless sync
internet explorer with EV-DO network
olive tree bible software
usb modem for laptop tethering
2gb sd cards for file storage and transportation
The only real features I can think of needing would be built-in wi-fi card and a camera with at least 2 megapixel. A thinner, lighter device would also be nice and hopefully with a better battery. I haven't learned enough about this device yet to see if it has any of these feature or something else really cool, so I am off to the other threads to catch up.
For what it's worth, I stopped in a local Verizon store yesterday (the Circuit City in Willow Grove, PA) to ask if they knew anything about the 6800's release date and the lady there told me that they had received a "dummy" model the other day and that they should have it for sale within 3-4 weeks. Don't know exactly what that means but I figured I'd pass it along.
There seems to be a growing feeling that the 6800 will be available through VZW on 9/24. We will see what we will see. In the meantime, VZW has lost countless customers to other operators due to their blunder of not having any new real PDAs available for so long.
That said, the 24th keeps coming up. The question is, will it be B2B only or for general release? I am not even sure VZW knows for sure until it is announced.

I hear you man, I've debated on flipping carriers but I've heard too many horror stories of coverage on other networks and for as much as I hate Verizon (both wireless' lack of new PDA's/phones and on a professional networking service level), I can't complain about their coverage. I've never had a call drop and get great EVDO coverage. Meh, guess I'll wait like a sucker.
Been on my XV9800 "The V" for some time now. Been lurking here and reading for months. Wanting to move up to something very much more capable, but not having the disease that requires I get the latest/greatest/most hyped thing the day it's released. My "New Every Two" with VZ will kick in in December. I can wait until then. Any release bugs or problems should be identified by then and hopefully resolved or work arounds available.

Welcome, Hopefully by this point all the major bugs will be worked out by Sprint, Bell CA, Telus, and everyone else who has had it by months. Whether or not VZW will learn we will see.

I spoke to my B2B Verizon rep today and he seems to indicate that he did not expect the 6800 to launch until later this year(December-ish). He specifically said that there were problems with the test group and that it would be delayed. The i760 is expected in early Oct. He told me to call back in two weeks to talk abou the i760.
I have to share my experience - I hope it helps. I switched from Cingular to VZW in August of 05 to get the Samsung i730 and the capabilities of EV service. That device had served me well up until yesterday. The i730 started out as Windows Mobile 2003 and was upgraded to the hacked WM5 release, and finally to the official WM5 release. I successfully tethered with it from day one without ever having problems. In the last year or so I have had problems that have caused me to need to soft reset it about once a day - sometimes numerous resets throughout the day were required, and even though I have a relatively new battery it was lasting only about a half day. That being said I still think it is the best phone I have ever owned - think - since Aug of 05 - who keeps a phone that long these days? Over the past year I have also seen the EV speeds in my area - metro Charlotte, NC - go from about 800-900k average to 300-400k average. I also had less signal at my home for the last year or so - could it have been a radio issue or a new PRL? I was content. Because of the problems with the battery life and resetting (yes, I did hard reset a couple of times and run with only the mrailing hacks and pdanet) I decided I would upgrade to the XV6800 when it came out. Well, many hopeful release dates came and went, and every time I would go to the VZW site there are the same old phones. They even stopped selling the i730, their best PDA phone to date. I finally started reading beyond the release threads and the Sprint SERO plan piqued my interest. So I read more and more about it and finally decided to bite the bullet and switch. This was tough because VZW has "The Network". I also read that Sprint's technical support was horrible. However, I had 3 phones, 2 still in contract, on a share plan, each with unlimited data, all sharing 1400 minutes, with a couple of additional features, and I was paying ~$250 a month before taxes, fees, and added additional overcharges. I found that I could switch to Sprint with two Moguls and a Q for an up front charge of about $1,150 but get back $300 in advertised rebates, another $150 (maybe $225 if i can pass off all 3 phones) in an unadvertised rebate, and $150 in service credits with a promotional code entered at check out. So at minimum I am getting back $600 meaning I get to upgrade all my phones for only $550. The real reason I switched is the SERO plan. There is no share plan with SERO but I was able to get the Moguls each on their own plan with 1250 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited text messages, no roaming charges, free m2m, free nights and weekends starting at 7PM, for $50 each per month. I was able to get the Q on a similar plan but with only 500 minutes for $30 per month. So my total monthly bill before taxes is now $130. That is almost HALF what I was paying with VZW. I am out the cost of breaking the contract on two of the phones but with the savings I can live with it. Okay - so maybe I was going to lose "The Network" but I was prepared with my reasoning being that Sprint wouldn't be in business if it was so bad that I couldn't at least get by with it. So, to my surprise, the Sprint network is as good, if not better, than VZW's was when I first got the i730. Today I ran some speed tests and topped 1100k on a couple with average about 800k. My wife and I had to run some errands around the Charlotte area this evening and we were on the phone (her on the Q and me on one of the Moguls) for about an hour - neither of us had problems with the service. My car has bluetooth and the phone works VERY well with it. The i730 worked with it as well but now the signal strength indicator on the display actually registers the signal strength where before it was just a static antenna. How about Sprint's tech support? I did have a problem with the Q getting a data connection just after activation and after a short hold, a short discussion with a tier 1 tech, escalation to tier 2, and another 10 minutes on the phone, it was resolved - I was actually very happy with the support call. Finally, the Mogul itself is great. Having used it for such a short period of time I can't give a good comparative review but I am very happy with it so far. It's lightweight and small, with a good keyboard, good bluetooth, good screen, very ergonomic, and well designed. The materials feel a little cheaper than the i730 but I can live with it. I hope this helps anyone that might have reservations about switching away from "The Network" or is looking forward to the XV6800.
Sorry for the long, possibly incoherent, ramblings.
