Why are all the new pda phones stuck on that tiny 2.8 screen size?? My Sprint ppc6600's 3.5 inch is marginal, I do a lot of reading on mine and I would like a 3.7 or 4.0 size screen so that I could take advantage of the VGA res and still be able to read it with my 40 year old eyes..
I played with the Samsung 830 and the black berry 8703. The 830 would be fine if it had the larger screen, the small screen has also shrunk the keyboard to almost useless ness.
I fear for the day I have to go back to a two part solution, Dell Axim X51 with the VG 3.7 screen and a Sanyo Katana phone.
The 6800 was not at CES so I doubt it will come on time. Sprint aparently is getting it in May according to another thread. I think the 1/15 date is a little optimistic, I'd guess in Feb at the very earliest. The 6700 hasn't been out a year yet either so who can really complain.
We've heard reports that the i760 has wifi (check the i760 thread on the i730 forum) after all.
Also no "Libra" on 1/8. As most speculated, those dates were just vaporware....it will be out sometime, just not sure when and with what inside the case.

What page? I have been reading that thread for a while and I dont remember seeing any reports of the i760 coming with WiFi.
I hope it does, because if it doesnt I wont be getting it.
i actually read all 6 pages bored at work.. my personal opinion is the 6800 looks nice, no specs rls'd everything is "hear say"...
with the change to micro sd and the fact that i would have to buy another mem card again... i can't see myelf upgrading for another 1-2 yrs and by then their might be something else better out..
more storage space on the phone would be nice, definitly.. but i can live with what i have right now... the 2.8" screen, i perfer.. some disagree and like the bigger 3.5"... i found it was split 50/50 with people on this forum and in general...
there's no way they can create a phone that suits us all... but some changes we would like to see would be nice like vga, bt 2.0, etc etc...

I'll tell you, I was absolutely obsessive about hunting down information about the XV6700 for at least 6 months before it hit the market. Just "google" XV6700 AND ckeegan and you'll get close to 500 results.
During my research, I came across the "testman" and "tcache" sites, which is where Verizon uploads test images and pages for future use. In the case of the 6700, it was exactly one month from the time the image was uploaded to tcache.vzw.com to the time the device was actually released. Also, testman.verizonwireless.com had the page "announcing the 700w" exactly one month prior to its release. Last piece of info, the i730 thumbnail image was uploaded 1 months prior to its release.
Needless to say, no images or information for the 6800 have been uploaded to either site. Not saying it is totally impossible for the 6800 to come out soon, but not likely given the history of Verizon. We also had absolute "confirmation" via verizon internal screenshots 13 days before the b2b release of the 6700 and 27 days before full retail launch. There was constant speculation for the 6700, including 5 rumored release dates which all came and went. Just sit back and wait for the 6th rumored release date for the 6800, and that's when you'll have it in your hands.
Sorry to burst your bubble again, but I just thought about this late last night.
Have there been any reports of field testers with the device in hand? The first time we saw field testers with the 6700 ended up being 6 weeks prior to its b2b release, and 8 weeks prior to full retail. And I'm talking about field testers, not if Verizon has it in testing, but if they or Sprint has deployed it out into the world for testing.
If you haven't seen that yet, with photographic evidence, then you've got a little while to wait.
**Don't get too discouraged though. At least it doesn't look like you'll have to deal with the whole Sprint getting it on a 3 month exclusive like they did on the 6700. That sucked.**

There is a poster named "Eclipsi01" who has claimed to have played with the i760. His first post claimed that it has wifi---however it has now been edited. However, later on, someone quoted him and his remarks are still there. He posted later about the stylus on it. So, I'm not sure if he was just messing with us, thought there was wifi but there wasn't, works for VZW and was told to retract his comments, or what.
But I would like to see some confirmation with a model you can turn on, as I'm sure you would too.
Called VZW yesterday and was told today was the release date. Went to the store this morning, no luck. Online, same deal. Called VZW and was told that now the release date is "mid January". What that means, God only knows but the lady was pretty sure that it would be released in January 2007.. now I guess we wait and see.
I seriously hope it has WiFi, but I might not be able to hold out that long. If the 6800 comes out anytime in the next 2-3 months I might just get that.

We havn't recieved anything in the vzw store, info, or otherwise yet... We usually get info and demo(floor) models a couple weeks before they go on sale in the store...
