Well I was on the line with CS today. Couldn't get anything out of him about the new phones. But after changing my plans around a bit. It looks like I'll be with verizon till next June. And I had to dump my discount on a new phone at the same time. But I'll be saving as much in the mean time. So I've got nothing holding me back from getting a 6800 whenever I want.

Ha, yea. I was worried. Thought everyone gave up.
But yea, I've been looking around and have just been getting too many different stories. Seems Verizon's reps are just making stuff up at this point. They all say something completely different.
I've decided that they have no idea at all. However, I FEEL that the July 18th release is real, at least for b2b, if not across the board is accurate. But that's just me being hopeful...
By the way, who knows how to "be a b2b customer" without actually being a b2b customer? (just in case i need to "be" one for the release)
It's not as easy as scamming a SERO account from Sprint. If your employeer has vzw phones you can if you have a valid work e-mail. They will tie your account to there's and give you a 13% off deal (maybe more or less depending on the size of the business account)

LoL, I don't think its the discount that we are worried about, its the ability to GET the phone. At least thats my biggest concern.
can I get the business release but use it for my personal account?
This was not a business release.
It is my understanding that anyone can buy this phone. You just can't buy it in a retail store for another month. Just call or buy online. I believe you have a better cbance of quick delivery if you call rather than order online.
went to my store yesterday and talked to the guys in there. the one said, "6800? huh?" the other said he hasn't heard anything official from verizon, but he has seen evidence that it will be released late july (i think the 27th). not sure about the other phones either. i guess lg is coming out with a version of the iPhone too. whatever.

We are talking about the 07/18/07 Verizon "release" date.
Anyone slightly tempted by the iPhone...I'm creeping towards my new every 2 with verizon and my phone is just broken. I have an old E815 and I broke the antenna off and I just need a new phone. With verizon being mum, I'm thinking about just getting the iPhone. Coming from the Axim x51v I'm not sure I want to go back to a QVGA device. The only drawback for me is iTunes. All my current audio is WMA....
I'd rather stick with Verizon and WMA but that iPhone sure is purdy.
And yes...I'm just trying to distract myself while I'm in verizon limbo....u'd think it'd be a good idea to release some info before the iPhone drops.

It is slim and sleek but in my opinion it is very limited for $600. If all your interested in is the video/audio then it would be a better choice than the 6800 (baring prices ofcourse) but I think there are/will be good options for much less on more than just the Verizon network. The Touch is also coming out and based more on the ipod concept (+ it probably won't be $600).
my employer does have a verizon plan, however my account is personal. can I get the business release but use it for my personal account?
Get in touch with your company's rep. Find out who manages the company's phone plan and ask them for the contact info. Your personal account can receive a discount due to your employment there. Also, you will be able to buy the phone via your company's rep when it is released.
Corporate reps are always looking to pad their sales via sales to the employees.
For those like myself, who's been checkin everyday religiously, hoping to hear something about an alltel release date...
This isn't official cause there's no actual date. But hope is all some of us need. It is said that alltel will get the 6800 in July. And another source says at the latest August (i'm hoping for July) I got this info from other forums. But it is very believable. Afterall Alltel did get the 6700 before Verizon. why would Verizon get its replacement before alltel? Well, it was said that they discontinued it cause the 6800 was coming out.
For those like me who just needed a little hope...

Just as I expected my rep had no idea when or if the 6800 will be coming out. I had assumed he had no idea.
I'm really starting to get pissed here. I'm sure he knows, he just won't tell me due to Verizon's new policy. You know, I'm about to give verizon over $500 for a phone, and spend close to $100 a month using the damn thing. Over a year thats about $1700 dollars. And they can't play fair and give me some F#@*ing information!!! I don't get it. Where's the customer satisfaction in that?!? All I want is some verbal security in knowing that I only have to get through a couple of weeks with this half working phone to get a new phone. They think that because they won't tell me I'll buy a completely outdated phone that they are just trying to get rid of... no way, they should WANT me to wait for the new one. A satisfied customer is more valuable in the long run. As soon as I can leave this jail cell Verizon calls a contract, I am out. Besides their reception, they are at the bottom in my mind.
yea, i can get it. i am also in luck because i am eligible to recieve a 25% lost or stolen phone replacement discount, so hopefully i won't be giving Verizon too much money.
Even if someone bought a phone today....if the 6800 is being released in two weeks...can't that person return the phone and get 6800 free of charge anyway...claiming to be unsatisfied with it? What's the return policy over at Verizon?
