I was also told via the web site that I was not eligible to get the instant rebate.
This started more than a few hours in phone calls to various Sprint reps. (When I moved my phone from a business account to a personal account it was updated to show I was due the $150 credit even though the line I took over on the personal account was only 1 year old..) No one I talked to though would honor the $150 notation on the account. I finally convinced a CS rep (maybe in Retentions) and she notated the account in such a way that if I paid full price for the phone I would receive a mail in rebate (not instant) for $150. This was the best she could do for me. I would get the rebate within 6 to 8 weeks of sending it in.
When I called and placed my order with Telesales I had to explain everything to them again and proceeded to buy the Mogul. When it came time for the price however they gave me the price with the $150 as an instant rebate anyway!
I should have my Mogul within 1 to 3 days. Lets just hope my PPC6601 last that long!

That is correct. Each year of your contract you "earn" a $75 credit towards a new phone. So, if you have been in contract for 1 year, you now have $75 towards any new phone you want to get. If you have been in a contract for 2 years, you have a $150 credit towards a new phone (max of $150). You can use it whenever you want or not use it. I think a lot of people have been waiting for the 6800 to cash in on their "earned" credits. That is what I was waiting for. Now, we'll see how good this little puppy is when it arrives.
Its actually based on how long you have had your current phone, not on your contract. I completed my 1 yr contract in July 06 and have been on month-to-month since but all the reps would do for me is offer a $75 discount if I signed a 2yr agreement because I've only had my current phone active for 19 months. If it had been 21-24 months since I had activated my phone, then they would have given me $150 for signing a new 2 yr agreement. One of the reps agreed it was a "dumb" policy and and even told me that even though I was not currently in a contract, if I went out and bought a phone at full retail (no discounts) and activated it, it would be a full 2 years until I would be eligible to get a $150 discount even through I paid full price. Bottom line is they go on how long its been since you've activated your current phone, not on whether or not you've completed your 1 or 2 yr agreement/contract. So I complained to retentions, got $150 for signing a new 2 yr (even though I wasn't technically elgible) and then another $50 credit towards my bill.
I just ordered mine today, the telesales person was very friendly and they gave me overnight shipping and waved all the activation stuff. I only got charged around $420. Should be here either tomorrow or early Wednesday (Where I live overnight shipping usually takes an extra day )
Yeah, I'm sure. I actually got that price since I'm an employee. I had to bragg a little. I even checked the order in Ensemble and FDT to make sure they ordered the right phone.

Very nice! I'm jealous... but happy for ya
I was able to exchange out my Treo 755P... after about an hour on the phone.... good ole sprint.
Oh I finally got my 6800 ordered after being on the phone for 11 hours with sprint today, I initially placed my order about 1:00 am through online sales, when i got up early at 4:30 i checked the status of the order and it said the order was cancelled and i lost my mind, after being on the phone all day with about 25 to 30 csrs in corp, telesales, retention etc,i finally got an account manager who was authorized to make any type of changes necessary to keep the customer happy. well when i placed my order online some where between 3-5 thousand orders got deleted and cancelled, due to sprint transferring sprint customers over to nextels system, it took me 11 hours to prove i had sent back the 6700 i bought last month, oh thats another thing ,due to the amount of phones that are being returned for the 6800, it will take up to 2 billing cycles for your phone return credit to show up, so your gonna have to fork out more cash for the 6800 it wont be a straight up exchange. Good luck to all
Since the Sprint release date has obviously come, should we focus this thread to Verizon's release date and continue the ordering discussions in other threads?

a lot of reps don't know their information correctly... if you buy a phone at full retail price it does not reset your eligibility. This was an older "dumb" policy, but has been fixed as of October of 2006. So unless you use your rebate, your eligibility will not be reset anymore.

Damn, I'm starting to love the Blackberry...
I got a chance to play with a reps 6800 and I'm honestly not all that impressed. The features are cool, but the low accessible memory and slower Processor really make a difference and you notice it. I can tell after i load a few of my favorite apps on the thing that it would be just like the 6700 all over again, a slug. The 6800 also feels very cheap. That backdoor is def gonna crack if u drop it. It's just not what i expected. The EVDO was kinda fast, but the performance of the phone itself overall is not what i expected.
I came home and logged onto cnet to watch their video review of the device and to no surprise they pointed out some of the things i noticed.
From the sounds of other posts, it seems like the only way I'm going to get my situation straightened out is by talking to retention. It's sad that an employee of a partner company that actually runs several of their call centers has to go as far as retention to be heard. I knew there was a reason I was considering switching :/

Seems I was right. Retentions answered all the questions that the 20+ CSRs couldn't answer (and actually contradicted each other trying to answer them).

Consider yourself lucky, Retentions did no better for me than anyone else. I had to take it to Executive Services before I got anywhere.

I agree... let's move the order tracking, "mine's out for delivery", "how did you order it", etc.... related to Sprint to one of the other threads. Lets get back to "release date" discussion here which would be Sprint Retail Store release or any Verizon release information.

OK. Those of you whom are awaiting Verizon news, here's what I've accomplished over the last 72 hours
1. ALMOST NOTHING
2. Went to 3 stores, 2 had no idea what 6800 was. Third store had a guy who knew some stuff. He said that Verizon's website would add the phone to the phones list and then have a "Coming Soon" logo next to it. From then, he said it would be about two weeks.
3. From about 10 Verizon Customer service calls, one was helpful. I got guy to admit that they know some things, they just can't tell us legally because of what happened in an earlier release attempt. I pretty much asked him to "verify" my theorys and got out of him that they would like to release it as soon as possible, but may wait for bugs emerge and fix them, as is Verizon's policy to 'provide a quality product.' - Bull. That's just Verizon's covering itself. I asked how long this usually takes, he said in about 2 weeks, the problems should be fixed and phone will be ready, so clearly they don't actually do any fixes.
So, according to him, 2 weeks guys. I think he was just trying to say that Verizon is better by making sure the phone is 100% working before release because I was telling him that sprint beat them to the finish line, and that I wanted to switch to a company that gets things done efficiently. Bottom line, I'm pretty sure he knows the phone is coming out in 2 weeks from monday (yesterday). Seems like he was saying it without saying it if you know what I mean. Take it how you want.

Verizon never did a "coming soon" logo for the 6700, but rather for the 700w. Obviously they made a bigger deal out of the 700w since it was the first Treo to run WM, not to mention the fact that they had exclusivity. The only reason I would see Verizon doing a "coming soon" promo for the 6800 on their website is if Sprint markets the hell out their Mogul, and Verizon feels they need to pre-market their release. They will still have an incredibly hard time if the XV6800 launches with WM5, but I still don't think Verizon is that stupid.
There's actually another guy (or maybe the same guy) in the i760 forum who went to the Upward Mobility thing and was told that the i760 was poised for an August release date. Not that this would necessarily have an impact on the 6800 release.
I remember when this link was first posted, and here's my response once again. I would find it hard to believe that Verizon is going to launch anything on a Saturday. At least July 14th is close to July 18th (which we know right now to be the release date for the 6800), but I still want to know if July 18th is supposed to be full retail or b2b.

I saw that too, and wasn't sure at first, but why would a saturday be a bad release date? People aren't working and it could be strategical...
Then agian, I'm not familiar with the common release formats Verizon has. Do they always release on a Monday? Do they release in stores on the Monday, and the website on a Saturday?
