What is the deal with the phone as modem service plan? with my 6700 i use my phone as a modem all the time and don't have a "phone as modem" plan. Will this not work like my 6700 with my current vision plan?

We don't know for sure, but most likely Sprint has disabled that ability unless you pay for their service. The 6700 was released before they had all that perfected.

Doesn't show up on the phones list for me. All I see is Nextel GSM devices for some reason, no CDMA devices at all!

If I try to do an online upgrade, it says "no phones available in your region" under phones elligible to upgrade.

Guess I'll just have to call in the morning.

No, that is NOT what they do. It will always work. If you do not have a PAAM plan, they will charge you per kilobyte of data you up/download in PAAM mode.

Nah, still no dice. I have a few things against me. I'm in one of the few remaining affiliate (Horizon PCS) territories, so some stuff doesn't work right. My account is about 10 years old and has gone through countless system updates, so other stuff doesn't work.

I'll just call in the morning. I'm sure they have more than a few of them lying around

That's probably the problem. Did you try other zip codes that were listed above?

Mine is (hopefully!) on the way. Here's the convoluted mess I had to go through to get it ordered:
  • Clear all cookies
  • Go to www.sprint.com
  • Click "view all devices"
  • Enter 75219 as my ZIP code
  • Go BACK to www.sprint.com
  • Click "upgrade my phone"
  • Select the Mogul at the bottom of the bar on the left
  • Proceed through the checkout process
Apparently, it's all in the ZIP code you've put in this way. If you don't go through the "View all devices" process first, it uses the ZIP on your accoumt, which in my case wasn't working.

I was able to bill the phone to my individual liable corporate account as well.

Now we'll see if the order actually processes!

The way WM manages memory, it's really all you'll need. I've had every conceivable thing open on my 6700, and not run out. I'm just grateful for the included 512MB microSD... don't have to go out and buy a replacement for my miniSD, at least not right away. Especially considering the 256MB ROM too.

I work for the same company, and I can confirm that this is legitimate. It's also appearing on the Sprint site for order already (if you are opening a new line; it's like pulling teeth to just get the phone by itself unless you're already eligible for an Upgrade)

LOL, I live a couple of miles away from your corp office. Almost applied for a job there once IIRC.

What do you guys do for Sprint that gives you the inside line?
