Seems like worktankseattle.com is an advertising agency. They have nothing to do directly with HTC or Sprint. Not like that means anything, just an FYI.
My brother runs a VZW store and has no knowledge when the 6800 release is. If Sprint puts the 6800 on the shelf Monday I will be first in line and my 6700 will be on ebay.
the phone will be out monday, this is what my sprint rep told me
bad news Sprint PPC-6800 May Be Delayed Until This Fall. I thought it sounded weird that sprint would release this phone before VZW as they never have released a PDA that VZW has before VZW can.

Sprint released the 6700 before Verizon did. Verizon is notoriously slow with releasing new phones (they say its because their testing is so rigorous and thorough). The Treo 600 and 650 also debuted on Sprint before Verizon. I assure you, there is nothing "weird" about Sprint releasing the same phone before Verizon. Its happened many times (but not all the time).
hmm well i stand corrected. Sorry for the miss info.(One too many tequila shots and not enough research) With any luck the link i posted will be miss info as well. Keep our fingers crossed.
My Sprint Rep told me that they actually already relesed the 6800 three months ago, just nobody could tell the difference from the 6700 so they didn't notice. Verizon didn't release the 6800 until two months ago.

I hope it hasn't been released. I have a customer that is waiting to buy over a thousand from me and Sprint knows it. This thousand is just a pilot run, too. My Sprint contacts are pretty in touch with PDA Phone availability and I would be surprised if it was out, already.

Let's hope so but seems we are getting little confirmations all over the place from corporate Sprint reps stating the 6800 has been delayed. Individually, they don't mean much but together, its hard to ignore them all basically saying the same thing.

Maybe this rumor mill, combined with the whole "Mogul" thing are designed to keep VZW on their heels. Some of these marketing folks are genius, like that. There are, simply, too many unknowns to try to guess why the release of these phones is like it is. Sometimes it's just a financial arrangement between the executives, sometimes it's related to stock levels of the predecessor, and sometimes it's related to key customer needs. Very complicated and only an elite few know the whole story. Everybody else just guesses, but makes for lots of hits on the forums which pays for the owner's advertising. This, of course, is a great thing.

last I heard, it was going to be June before VZW gets the 6800. If you can wait, you might want to do that. You are going to want to develope a relationship with a rep to make sure they won't automatically replace it with the same model. You need to make sure they don't have any in stock, is all.

Its very unlikely. Replacements come out of their refurb/replacement stock, and aren't usually packaged for sale... so its not like they can let you pay the difference. Your best bet would be to take the replacement, and sell it unused, then buy the new model... although it sounds like you might be waiting a LONG time.
