Saturday in Tampa, a sprint rep told me that the 6800 is coming in April, maybe the 2nd week. That all the rep new was 1 gig of ram Rev A and WM6... So it is a wait and see...
I really enjoy my PPC6700, but go backwards in MHZ is not going to keep me as a customer. I use my PPC6700 as a computer 1st and a phone 2nd, so I run a lot of WM5 apps and want more power as well as larger internal Rom and program ram...
If I can not get a good CDMA PDA WM6 phone by Jan '08, I moving back to GSM... I really like the specs on this GSM phone, even though it is bigger.
The O2 XDA Flame is powered by a Intel XScale PXA270 520MHz CPU, 2GB ROM, NVIDIA GoForce 5500 GPU (Yes, really!), a 3.6″ VGA screen. It has also a 2Megapixel camera, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, USB On-The-Go, SRS Mobile HD surround sound support and TV-out support.
is it here yet, is it here yet, is it here yet?....... arg....

tis is a great phone right here, yes no bluetooth 2.0. but the gps is personally one of the best features ever !!!!!!! plus 520 stock processor, means it can be clocked to 728 easliy with 256 as well. great phone. calling all sprint reps or ceos. my contract is up and Im not afraid to switch my business. I love the fact of leaving for a better device. i am free at last.
arrrrrgh, ive been sweating this phone for 4 months now. My contract has been up for 3 months. I pray that it comes with wm 6.0, hopefully this is why its taking so long to get to market. Have you all noticed that most of the cell companys have had the same old phones for about 6 months now? Are they waiting for the iPhone to come our or are they waiting for wm 6.0? Maybe both? Sprint / verizon / t-mobile, better launch a killer attack of the phones just a week or two cingular drops the iPhone bomb. And if the iPhone is known as the iCrash, then sprint and the other players will just sweep up the sales. I can hear it now, "I paid $600 for a pretty brick.... aaaaarrrrgh!".
That being said, its sure cool looking, but i want my HTC.
Granted this has the Telus branding, but the build/feel should be exactly the same. Even Verizon can't screw that up somehow. And perhaps the best part is that they managed to see a Sprint branded version too. Maybe we'll be hearing more in the next couple days...
I like my 6700, but if this 6800 is a lot thinner and lighter, I am there. Even if the 6800 turns out to be not much better than the 6700 in terms of performance, I still would get it for the size alone. I just wished it came out already.
When I bought my 6700, the Sprint employee suggested I get the insurance plan (which I wanted anyway for such an expensive phone) and actually advised me to either break or "lose" my 6700 when a new version came out. He said that Sprint will almost always give you the newer model phone as your replacement.
Has anyone had success with this to upgrade to the 6700 from the 6600? I expect some comments to be about the questionable ethics of this tactic, but maybe we can keep those to a minimum and actually talk about Sprints replacement policy for the insurance plan when a new model comes out and the prior phone has been discontinued.
Not sure about Sprint- but I had a 6600 replaced with a 6600 as of last month...
From what I've read carriers usually backstock about six-months to a year's worth of replacements... and I've had my 6600 replaced four times now.
It's possible (especially on Sprint as opposed to Verizon) but unfortunately I wouldn't count on it. Hopefully this thing comes out soon; I'm up for new every two as of tomorrow!
its not slower. that's where the confusion comes in. just because a chip has a lower mhz does not means its slower. intel and amd have fooled a lot of ppl over the years into making us believe that the mhz is the most important aspect of the chip. its not.
theres a lot of misinformation going around in terms of specs on websites and forums, and it keeps getting copied back and forth to other forums, etc. while a lot of us agree the 6800 isn't a huge leap hardware upgrade wise, its not as paltry as they make it out to be.
Yeah if it's 3rd quarter I'm not sure If I'm going to stick around w/ sprint. I am a bit tired of my 6600 and want something that has WiFi, high speed internet, and a newer OS. The 6700... I hate. So since I am no longer in a contract I'm going to look around for something better.
