I must be missing something because I am unable to make sense of the data plan options on the Verizon website. As an existing customer, I expected it would be a simple matter of adding data to my current plan but they seem to only list combined voice/data plans. And I didn't see any reference to an unlimited data plan.
I'm comparing costs with the iPhone/AT&T plan at $79/month with unlimited data and 900 voice minutes. My biggest need is access to my corporate Outlook email & contacts, and the XV6800 would be ideal in that regard -- but the iPhone does a serviceable job via web access and the plan is cheap.
Thoughts?
One week ago I could ask a question and everyone and their brother had an answer.(Or thought they did)
Now I ask a question 3 different times over the last 3 days and no one has even posted a response.

marlind, I don't know if anyone knows if you can cancel the data plan after you get the phone and still keep the rebate. That's probably why no one has answered. I guess you can call Verizon and see what they say.
Can anyone confirm that most likely the $100 online discount will go away in a week or so when they are in stores?
You never know for certain, but the i760 online discount evaporated about a week after in showed up online. I' not sure it was even in the stores yet when at happened.
I hesitated, the discount went away. I now have the XV6800 and believe I'm better off anyway.
Thanks for the input importmonkey. I've done some research and found some sites listing a vehicle charger showing both the 6700 and 6800. This is promising but not definite. Anyway I'll check myself if no one responds prior to my getting the phone. I'll let others know here what the results are.
As far as the charger being out of stock, I was ordering it from the "Employee Discount Page" which is a place that employees of certain organizations are given anywhere from 25% to 50% off of purchases. I can imagine Verizon only provides so many of certain items and leaves enough stock to cover the demand of the full price buyers so they can make a better profit. It doesn't matter as long as my XV6700 vehicle charger will work. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it will.
The output on the charger included with the phone is 5V, .8w; the charger with the Motokrazr I got for my wife is 5V, 1w, and both are mini-usb. Also, my phone included a USB cable (regular size on one side, mini on the other). I conclude from all that that you can use a regular USB line to charge the phone, and you don't need a phone-specific charger. So, you should be able to pick up one of those 12V-USB thingies and use that to charge the phone in your car (you can buy similar things that plug into a wall outlet, for that matter).
The BroadbandAccess I was talking about was connecting to a laptop for internet access. I would guess that it would be simply part of the unlimited data part but wanted to check.
For the FM modulator are there any suggestions for one, I don't have bluetooth in the car.
The phone comes with a dongle/splitter which splits the mini-usb into another mini-usb and a 2.5mm headset plug.

Tim, Thanks for the specs. I feel very confident now that the vehicle charger I have been using with the XV6700 will work with the new XV6800. I guess I've lucked out the charger I ordered was not in stock. It saved me some $$$. The draw back to switching out phones is having to buy all new accessories. Now I wish the XV6700 cradle would work as well, but that is a no go from the test I made to try to charge the extended battery that arrived yesterday. It definitely didn't work.
I have a question about CommManager. With the later ROMs published for the XV6700, the "Exit" option in the program located at the bottom of the window would not stop CommManager from running. The user had to actually stop it through running programs in memory which caused an error to occur and I had to comfirm that I wanted the program to stop. Is this something that also happens in the XV6800 or does "Exit" now work when selected in CommManager?

Can anyone else confirm from their experiences that this $100 online discount is about to disapear? Money is tight right now and I'd like to wait a bit but I might try to suck it up if it means getting $100 off that might not be around here soon.

By saying you wish the 6700 cradle would work with it are you saying the 6800 is not coming with a cradle or something?

pconyers, the accessories that come with XV6800 as per the Verizon site are:
Standard Li–Ion Battery (920mAh)
AC Travel Charger
Mini USB Data Cable
Spare Stylus
Simple Pouch (no warranty)
USB Splitter
VZAccess Manager™ CD
Getting Started CD (including User Guide)
RF Brochure
Quick Reference Guide
WirelessSync Pocket Guide
As you can see there's a travel charger which connects directly to the phone for charging but no cradle to have it sit in when syncing with the PC. I suppose when syncing it will have to lie next to the PC and will have to be lifted up to see what the screen says. This will be somewhat aggravating but I will have to live with it until I can get a cradle. I have found cradles that should work with the 6800 but they are not cheap. So the cradle will have to wait for a bit particularly after buying the phone even at the discounted price.
Hi all. I got my XV6800 ordered and it should be here by Monday. I also ordered some accessories from the employee discount site because they are cheaper there. Those should arrive about the same time as the phone. One of the accessories I ordered was the vehicle charger. When I got the email confirming the order I was informed that charger was unavailable and had no known receipt date so they cancelled that part of the order. My question is about the charging port on the XV6800. Can I use the same vehicle charger I've been using for my XV6700?
I am using my 6700 car charger and it works fine.
They are the same connections.
USB connections are the same also.

You can easily find a charging cradle for the 6800. They have had them out
for months for the Mogul. They just put VZW on the ones for the 6800. Just
Google XV6800 charging cradle.
I had to call Verizon today about some contract stuff and brought up the fact I was thinking about the 6800 but was unsure about the data plan. I asked her what would happen if I got the Data plan then decided I did not won't it what would happen?
She said to call and simply cancel
then I asked if I would be charged back for the $100 rebate?
She paused and said well I cannot tell you what to do in that situation but if it was me I would wait to get the first bill after adding the data plan then cancel. (Hint,Hint)
Then I asked how much for the data plan she said you could get one for $30 a month.
So what she really said (translation of corp. B.S. is) You can cancel the plan and not get charged back for the rebate but to be safe get the first bill then cancel!!!
$100 minus $30 one month data plan it's like saving an extra $70 off!!!!!
$100 ne2
$100 online
$100 data
$50 possible mail in rebate
$149 total cost!!!!!!
plus another $30 if a keep the data plan one month for a total cost of $179!!!!!!
Then I asked how much for the data plan she said you could get one for $30 a month.
Well that sounds pretty good, marlind. I would check on that $30 data plan though. I have yet to see an unlimited data plan at that price. I get a discount through my employer and it's still more then what she quoted. Congratulations on being able to get a great discount.

I was told the unlimited plan was $45 a month by VZW support. There may be some business discounts that I don't know about.
