If I order a 6800 online, will the 30 day return policy still apply? If so, will I have to ship it back or can I just take it in to a local store if I am unhappy with it?
Doubt the IR port will be CIR - as (at least on the Mogul my friend has) the IR port is on the bottom of the unit. I really don't know why HTC still bothers with IR, to be honest

I've done that. The local store wouldn't accept the return, had to ship it back. The phone was shipped with a return label, so I think I just needed to call fedex and tell them to pick it up. The 30 day return did apply.
I thought Verizon had a 14 day return policy. Anyway, you DO have to ship it back. Use box/label supplied and drop it off at any Kinko or call FedEx. It's easy.

I use the IR on my XV6700 probably 3-4 days per week. I'm a Realtor, and at least 70% of MLS lockboxes nationwide use IR technology, which means I use my XV6700 to show houses. Kind of important in my situation, which is why the i760 wasn't an option for me.
From what I can see, the difference between rev0 and reva is 2.4 to 3.1 megbits transfer rate? Can someone confirm that?
On the download, that is correct.
The other benefits is increased speed on the uploads (near symmetric to the download)and support for QoS (quality of service tagging on the packets), which means the device could support voice over IP and similar packet based applications that are time sensitive. Implementing VoIP means you could do simultaneous voice and data transfers.
I've been anxiously anticipating the 6800 release, as I'm sure most of you have been. I think I stopped reading this post around page 60 or so as I got frustrated with the long wait. It sounds as though the release is closing in...I just had a few questions.
It's been a while, so is there another phone I should wait for?
How does it compare to newer phones like the Touch and Voyager?
Is the release ACTUALLY coming end of Nov07?
Any new info I should be aware of before I order one?
Anyone find ways of talking VZW down on the price?
Thanks!
P.S. I'm currently using the 6600 on VZW and using it for a phone among the following...
xmradio
movies
songs
gps (iguidance)
email and such
cable tv
I'm under the impression the 6800 will do all of this as well.

Anything done with telesales must be dealt with by telesales. The retail stores and the telesales/website are two completely different entities. Including for support. If you buy it over the phone or online the stores won't help you with anything (device related).
Just something to keep in mind.
Side notes:
None of the stores in Southern Oregon that I've been to even have the i760 yet, lol.
I also played with both the Mogul and the Tilt last week and I didn't notice a speed difference between the two. I also wasn't impressed with either of the cameras, even the auto focus on the Tilt. The Tilt is quite abit larger and I was surprised how much smaller the Mogul was than the 6700. Really the only thing that would make me think about getting the Tilt would be the GPS, I don't really use any GPS on a regular basis but I'm sure I would play with it a bunch especially if it was available.
My Thoughts.

From Verizon this is still the "top" choice. Many people have talked about the Tilt from AT&T.
Both of LG's new devices are not PDA phones, they compair more to the iPhone concept. They run LG's "OS" (someone correct me if its not actually LG's). I am not as familiar with the Touch but I believe it is still a WM6 device but with a little more iPhone contender intent.
The current "theory" is Nov28 for internet/telesales and retail Dec5. This has been confirmed by multiple sources partially by VZW employees (including one to me on the retail date).
Not sure what info your looking for, but nothing that I can think of stands out to me.
I think we'll have to wait till after the 28th to find out any possible price breaks.
Hope this helps.

Good to know - thanks.
It's going to be a bit of a PITA for you, then; given the placement of the IR port (I suppose you could run out the keyboard - which puts the IR port on the "left" of the device)

The TMobile version says it has IR port in the Specs, but in fact, it does not have an IR port.
I agree that IR is an old technology, but some people still use it and it is VERY handy, especially when Bluetooth File Transfer is disabled on these Verizon phones!
As for alternative phones to the xv6800, you could get the Samsung i760, or wait until Palm releases their newer 7xx model, which is doesnt have an antenna

Just a quick question about support when purchsing online, based on the above if I purchase through web or telesales I can not go to the local store for support or hardware problems, is this correct?
It would definantly influence purchasing on the 28th through the web or the 5th in person at the local store. thanks.
Does anyone know of the Tethering capabilities of the 6800?
I know that the 6700 made you use an annoying program called WinModem everytime that you wanted to get online via a PC. I know that Windows Mobile 6 has a really nice app called Internet Sharing. I wonder if Verizon will leave that availible or cripple it. The tethering feature is something which I will need to use.

Verizon will support their phones regardless of where they were purchased as long as it WAS purchased from Verizon. Online, in person, from a B2B Rep. Doesn't matter, as long as it was purchased FROM Verizon. If you bought it off ebay (for example) they wouldn't support it.

Follow the yellow brick link Verizon Wireless XV6800 and see that verizon is admiting that this device exists. No firm release date or pricing but it is up on the web. Thanks to mmcgowan5797 on VerizonXV6800.net for the scoop and anyone else who helped find this.

Check the 6800 thread on howards forum, the 6800 is being ordered online as
we speak. They are showing receipts.
found the thread...still trying to sypher through all the info though.
Pictures on page 99 of the thread.
Bottom line--- VZW allowed pre-release sales in certain market locations.
It should go on sale online for everyone tomorrow.
With VZW 's announcement today that they will allow CMDA handsets form
all carriers the operate on their system , nobody will have to wait a year
for a phone to come out on VZW again.
