Wow - I'm currently due for my new every 2 at this point and have been waiting for the 6800 to come out to replace my 6700 (which works well for me now). I must say that if those prices are correct then I will NOT be changing up to the 6800 since it's over-priced for a Pocket PC that's been out for a while now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It should be easy enough to get the price down to Sprint's price. That's why wireless companies have retention departments.

My NE2 comes in December and I've been considering the i760. After rebates I can get the i760 for $80 vs. $300-$400 for the 6800... I LOVE my 6700, but I may be willing to pass up the extra memory and revA for a while.

Now everyone has 11 days to figure out VZW's justification for the price: $619 (full retail), $499 (2 year)! Wow.
Just when you thought this whole situation couldn't get any dumber. If Verizon is actually charging $500. for this phone with a two year commitment, I'm gone. I'll get a bloody iPhone, and use web access to get my Outlook information -- and have AT&Ts unlimited data service in the deal. So it's slower, I'll cope -- I'll take the money I save on the phone AND the data plan and buy a coffee while I wait. This phone was the main reason I hadn't left Verizon already, given the monthly bills I've been getting.

They really don't get it.

GPS, Video Conference, two cameras, 3 mps camera, auto focus, Tilt feature, and more memory. All it takes is a little research.

A damn shame the i760 doesn't have RevA possibility and more memory...samsung would pull some bank away from HTC no doubt.
And why the hell did they change the way it opens for the keyboard? It sounds completely trivial, but that alone makes me reluctant to buy it.

Who wants to make a PDAPHONEHOME-PHONE? =)

Kevin ... this forum is for discussion of the PPC6800/XV6800/Mogul, not the TytnII/8925/Tilt ....

The 6800 does not have GPS, Video Conf., 2 cameras, let alone a 3mpx camera ... no TILT.

Your research is a little off ... wrong phone.

Rebate question...

When this shows up, I would like to check for any rebate that may be available. Does anyone know if Verizon has a rebate page online somewhere? I can't find one.

After 6 months of waiting for the 6800, I just couldn't take it anymore. My 6700 was being held together with duct tape, and was making a high pitch whining sound that was getting painful to listen to.

I went to Verizon store to look at a new PDA phone. The clerk told me they don't expect the 6800's until first quarter next year. I told her it would be obsolete before it is released. She agreed with me. So, I bought the Samsung i760. I got an awsome deal on it for some reason. It came with a headset, case, and both chargers. Total cost, including tax, and after my rebate was $220.

Sounds like the 6800 might have a couple small things better, but the 760 is so much better than the 6700 it isn't funny. So far I'm very happy with it. Everything that was wrong with the 6700 is right on the 760.

I do have 30 days to bring it back, so if the 6800 gets released, I might consider exchanging it.

You must live under a rock . And the Clerk lied to you.

The 6800 goes on sale online next Wed. , the 28th, and in the stores on
Dec.5th. That is six days from today. And I don't think Rev A is a small difference.

I understand "Half the Rom" but that won't matter to me because I don't use what I have now. What do you mean "No USB" and "No Rev A"? What will that do that the Samsung i760 won't?

Hey man, wasn't trying to be nasty, just couldn't believe someone
that reads these posts doesn't know that the release date was only
a week away.

i760 won't have Rev A capability and won't sync via usb.
Rev A is faster speeds on the internet. The extra memory makes
the windows mobile apps run smoother. The 6800 is a much
more powerful handset.

I have better things to do with my life than read thousands of these endless posts every day.

Not sure what you mean by the USB thing. I've been syncing with USB with it all day. I can do USB sync, and broadband sync. I tried Active Sync and Wireless Sync. They both worked flawlessly so far.

That's certainly good news if it really comes out next week. Then I can go play with it and see if it really is better than the 760. If it is, I'll trade it in.

It will be in the stores on Dec. 5th. so it will be two weeks

"No USB" means that the phone's recharge/sync port is NOT usb but rather Samsung's own style plug-in. It does plug in to your Computer's USB.

The 6700/6800 have mini-USB ports that you use to Charge & Sync

From what I can see, the difference between rev0 and reva is 2.4 to 3.1 megbits transfer rate? Can someone confirm that?

I wonder if the XV6800's IR port will be consumer grade? In other words, will it work as a remote control?

Not a deal breaker or anything since I'm not used to using my 6700 as a remote anyway. Just curious.

Also, I wonder if they'll have a holster for it from Verizon like they do for the 6700.

Guess we'll have to find out.
