Lightbulb Staying with Verizon

I have been reading this thread for almost an entire year and I have learned a lot from it. The first thing I have learned is that Verizon has the worst phones in the world, yes the world, and Sprint is a close number 2. Second, the only reason anyone should be with Verizon or Sprint is if they live in an area where Verizon and Sprint are the only options or if they are free. I was with Verizon for about 3 years until I started to learn about Pocket PC phones and what there is out there. I waited and waited for Verizon to come out with new phones but they never did. And then I realized that their phones suck anyway no matter how long they test them because they were so late to market they were outdated. Their Pocket PC phones come from HTC just like AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile anyway so I should just go to AT&T and get one 18 months earlier when the technology is relevant. So I left and went to AT&T and bought whatever phone I wanted. Imagine that, any phone. I live in a major city and so the difference in service was negligible. So my last comment is that don't fool yourselves and do the research, the TyTN II is the best phone out there right now and is the next upgrade to the 6800. AT&T came out with the 6900 (aka HTC TyTN II, Tilt) before Verizon could even come out with the 6800. That is just Pathetic and I would love to hear anyone that thinks the contrary.

With all the "new" technology the TyTn ll has , what can you actually do
with the TyTn ll that you can't do with the 6800 ? What will the TyTn ll do
that the 6800 will not do ?

Better read the news , Sprint had 375,000 customers leave them this
year because of terrible service. Tons of lawsuits against them now.

That was the date to mail in the coupon for the "new business Line"

You can't. People in the forums need to realize that Verizon has NEVER confirmed a release date. All we have is "rumored" and "leaked" info about a date.

Don't get mad at Verizon, it's not their fault they waited 39 years to release the 6800 . Haha I'm kidding, but come on Verizon, you know we're waiting

Still no word! I talked to a friend of mine who is a gadget freak like me who happens to be the manager of the largest Verizon store in town. He STILL doesn't have any news from the "Powers-that-be" at Verizon!

It will happen when it happens!

There was a post on howards forum by a VZW employee who said VZW
employees can order the phone now. (6800)
Ask your buddy if that is true.
Thanks

Uh, so what. You can find bad news about any major company out there.

The fact of the matter is that Verizon hasn't come out with a feasible upgrade to my 6700 in two years so why should I stay with them? Oh yeah, The Network. LOL Maybe I should sue Verizon for bad phone options. LOL

This isn't the kind of news you hear about all the carriers. Which carrier
besides Sprint lost 350,000 customers the past year. Why is Sprint rated
last in customer service by JD POWERS research , and Consumer Reports.
WHY can't they get the wi-fi fixed on the Mogul. They have new phones
but their customers are suing to get them unlocked so they can take their
phones an leave. Read the papers dude. The don't even have a CEO right
now. Yeah , great company ----wonder why their customers are running??
.

Dude, do you work for Verizon? Just curious. I've been with Verizon for 10 years now and they do have good customer service but I've only talked to them about ten times so I'm willing to take a chance and have a cool new innovative phone (Touch), comparable network, and decent customer service. I've talked to Sprint CS and they've done just fine each time.

Oh yeah, I've also cut my bill in half with the SERO plan so I'll put up with a (possible) lower-level of CS from Sprint to save over $50/mo. But as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on Sprint's CS anyways.

And besides, I hear just as many people on these types of forums complain about Verizon as I do Sprint. Heck, everyone complains about every carrier so what's the big deal? And don't act like Verizon is some saintly company either.

Here's some news on Verizon when it comes to lawsuits:

From Engadget:
Class action lawsuit against Verizon and Motorola for crippling Bluetooth on the V710

From CNN:
Verizon stock takes hit on $50 billion lawsuit
Lawsuit asks Verizon and government to end phone snooping and seeks $1,000 for each of phone company's 50 million customers.

From The Register:
Verizon faces lawsuit over email blocking

All I did was ask about who might be looking at the Touch instead of waiting for the 6800 from Verizon. I didn't ask for someone to preech to me about why one company is better than the other.

Anyway, have a nice day.

You forgot to add the story about Verizon increasing their net profit 15%
over last year (Sprint is Down),and you forgot the story about Verizon getting
1.57 million new customers this year, not losing 350,000. Most of the stuff you
posted about Verizon the Federal Govt. got them to do.Homeland security/etc. . And , no I don't work for Verizon. I work for nasty old IBM.

Dude... if they did that then this thread would be empty/dead since VzW has screwed the release of this device so bad.

Hey, the VzW faithful need something to do in between sips of the kool-aid.

This is my second post after reading this thread since June when I first talked with my VZW rep who told me that the 6800 would be released in early August (yeah, right ...).

I called VZW and told them (paraphrasing), "I don't care when you're releasing the phone, just give me some information and a reason to stay and I'll stay. If not, no hard feelings, just let me know so I can go to Sprint".

Well, suffice it to say, I've moved to Sprint and signed up using SERO after many years of VZW service. I talked with two people there and the closest I got was someone pointing me to this thread for information (gee, thanks!), that same person said he saw it as a phone that was coming out, and that the best he could guess would be 90 days.

Good luck to all.

LONG time reader, first time poster...since it looks like its finally coming out because verizon says it exists...

dont know if you guys know this already, but i havent seen it anywhere in recent posts...

a few days ago i went to a verizon at circuit city just to check out the i760. just for sh!ts i asked about the 6800. as usual, the guy just said definetly within the next month which means nothing. But he did show me something interesting. there actually is a verizon magazine that has the 6800 already in it. its not that 1 page flyer you can google, its actually a whole magazine. Unfortunetly it says release date: Comming Soon! on it... They seemed to have a lot of them so i guess you can ask to see the magazine at a verizon store or circuit city vrizon where i went. Didnt have very many specs but did have a picture...just to give us all hope...

Hi All.

I am new to the sight, but thought you all might like to hear a story related to the release of the XV6800. Prior to Monday I had not so much as heard of the XV6800. I went into a Verizon Store to look at the i760 because my "New Every Two" date is Thursday. While I was examining it, a sales person came up to me and told me "That phone is a piece of crap, you don't want to buy it" I figured at first it was an up-sell strategy so I played along and asked him what was better.

He told me that there was a new phone coming out in "the next couple of weeks" which would be better suited to be a PPC replacement (I currently use both a PPC and a Cell) I pushed him a little harder and he told me about the "VX6800" phone. His knowledge of the phone was sketchy and said I was better of checking the web for details as he was not "Officially Trained" yet. He then went on to explain that the managers get a 2 week notice of pending releases, and he had seen a memo about the phone being shipped to stores on November 7th. He also said that the stores were expecting them about a week later and then they would be trained on them sometime between the 13th and the 15th. The Phones would then be made available to the public on the 16th, but more likely for "Black Friday" because that was the "Official Start" of thier holiday sales. For those of you not familiar with Black Friday...it is what retail stores call the day after Thanksgiving.

He told me that I should call the store on the 16th to see if it was in. He took my number and said if it came in before then he would let me know but in the mean time he gave me his card and wrote down on the back of it HTC VX6800 and told me to search the web to get more info on the phone. Needless to say, the search urned out results for the "XV6800" which I assume is the samething and the sales person just transposed the letters as most verizon cells are VX not XV.

All I can tell you is that this is what happend to me Monday at a Verizon Store (not some knock off reseller). The guy could have been making the whole thing up for all I know, but since the motive should have been to sell me something as I live no where near that store, I can't see why he would.

with fingers crossed, all I can do is wait.
