Would be nice if there were at least one carrier, with a kickass network, cutting edge phones with lots of chioces, and at least decent prices and customer service. As it stands, you can have one or two of the three, but not all three.
By the time Verizon get's around to releasing the XV6800, Microsoft would've come out with the perfect operating system... (yeah right)
Sprint will have already released the PPC-6900! We'll still be waiting...
I think the people at Verizon need to have a cranial-a$$-ectomy!

I've jumped on to the Tilt bandwagon.. So bye bye!!
I went ahead and finally jumped over to AT&T with them releasing the Tilt without much fuss and not like us people waiting and chasing various posts online for the expected release date for the XV6800...
It almost went comical when lately I'd stop by the Verizon booth and ask the guys about hey when it the 6800 coming and get looks like wha..?!! what planet is that from.... utterly ignorant stuff. Only on my last visit did I get a rep to show me the one page poster of the little sucker.
But hey, its my last post here on this thread and I couldn't be happier. Went via my wife's Premiere Store account and ordered the Tilt and 2 other phones 3 days ago and am right now staring at the tilt lying 2 feet away from me while I type this.
Guys... if you can truly go somewhere and just get to pick this phone up and see it upclose... I WILL GUARANTEE you won't believe your eyes and touch sensations.. THIS PHONE IS BUILT LIGHTYEARS MORE REFINED AND SOLID THAN LITERALLY ANYTHING I'VE SEEN. Its fit and finish is believe it or not, on par and in some way better than the Iphone.
The tilt mechanism is so fluid, I can't seem to now even imagine that a slider phone won't tilt up. Its the most natural thing.
BTW: If you do the math right, you can buy a couple of on special phones from AT&T if you have multiple lines to switch over, and can simply sell those on Craigslist and/or Ebay and recover most if not all of you early termination fees. Thats I'm sure is the biggest hang-up most people will have preventing them from switching over.
I got 2 Treo 750s for $99 and have them right now on ebay for $340.00 so will more than cover for ETF hole in my pocket.
I too have gone over to the ATT Side. Verizon was ridiculous. I remember in one of these threads somebody saying that by the time Verizon comes out with the 6800, ATT would have the next generation. Every week I would go into the Verizon store and they would tell me this bull that the delay was because they were testing. Finally I said stop with the defensiveness at this point you are insulting my intelligence.
So the day the Tilt came out -- I went and got it even with early terminations on 2 of my 4 phones. The good news is that ATT waived my termination fees and gave me 3 phones and discounts on the Tilt. So far so good (although I am wary of dropped calls and more limited access). On the upside I also have an international PDAphone.
So much drama about Verizon not having the 6800 yet.
While I too have been waiting for it to come out... with the wait I have had plenty of time to read about the myriad of problems the unit has had with Sprint users.
Also during this time I have had time to reflect that in the many years I have been with Verizon... not only have I gotten exceptionally great customer service (compared to ANY industry)... but I have NEVER purchased an inherently bad phone from them, and I like that. My brain has also been able to understand that if it were advantageous for them to release a product sooner rather than later... well, they have never struck me as stupid, so there must be a reason that it is not out yet.
Personally... if the "they are waiting for it to be right" theory is correct... then I am happy to wait. Waiting with an old one that works is just fine with me instead of getting one months too soon that doesn't work or is a constant PITR. My i730 will get me by and there is always plenty of DRAMA here to keep entertained with

This proves the old axiom: Obsolete means it works…

ATT paid your verizon termination fees?
The only thing keeping me from jumping at this point is the termination fee.

I think you are giving them too much credit, to be honest. First of all, not everyone is having problems with the Mogul... mine has worked pretty well except for being a bit short on RAM. If that was going to be fixed by Verizon, it would have been a pretty quick fix... add more RAM... problem solved. There have been some Bluetooth problems, but many have not had them... and I doubt that other devices don't have similar problems. And, they Treo 755P has been delayed even longer than the Mogul... and I've not heard of any technical reasons for that either. I think they are just slow getting them out the door because its a niche market and they don't really care... or they are just slow. One thing is for sure... based on the poll taken here, they are losing customers because of the delays. The Mogul was out on Sprint six months ago, and it was arguably not "bleeding edge" back then, compared to other devices out in the world market. In this industry, taking an extra 6 months is an eternity. Lets hope that when it does arrive, that it will not have any problems... because otherwise the thought that they are delaying it for "our own good" will definitely be proven wrong.

Unfortunately I doubt that the one that HTC released with thier software on it has the same problems that Sprints and Verizions are bound to have. So I'd tend to believe that the Tilt "out of the box" will have less issues than either companies 6800. The tilt is a newer and nicer device because it doesn't have to go through the reprograming and removing of accesories that most of our CDMA companies put them through.
{edit}Sorry about that Convergent hadn't refreshed to see your post, seconded.{/edit}

No problem... but comparing them to the Tilt is not really fair. They are totally different devices... they don't even share the same processor. While they are similar (see my Tilt review), there are a lot of things different about them. There are several issues with the Tilt that I've run into that the Mogul doesn't have... just after a week of use. The radio in the Tilt interferes with PC speakers. The keyboard space bar has a double tactile feedback which is annoying. It lacks a number of buttons that the Mogul has. The Tilt is about 15-20% heavier. It has a lower capacity battery. And from my preliminary use, the Tilt seems to me to be a little more sluggish and slow than the Mogul... but that's just a subjective thought. I'm sure there will be more. Its too early to tell if they share Bluetooth difficulties that some people have had. They are both great devices, and they are different devices in as many ways as they are similar.

I think the problem you are refering to with the speakers is a GSM radio problem, I know every phone I've dealt with that was GSM had the same radio interferance problems (obviously some at greater distances than others). The battery life may have to do with GSM vs CDMA as well but not going to hang myself on that, its just been another frequent observation of my devices. I wasn't trying to put them on the same playing field as far as devices go. The Tilt is the device being talked about. I was comparing more the way AT&T and other GSM carriers accept their devices vs how many CDMA companies do. AT&T probably doesn't care if the Tilt has a feature or two that their network doesn't support but VZW and Sprint will have those features removed. My stance was dealing more with the companies than the devices. Sorry about the confusion.

To clarify on the battery, I meant that the Tilt battery is a lower capacity battery than the Mogul one... no comment on battery life, just on capacity.

I think we can all agree on that
I do still hold the opinion that I have seen a lot of complaints about this phone... more than anything Samsung has put out which is giving credence to MRailing's decision to buy the Sammy because of superior build quality. I am still hoping the 6800 will come through a winner because I am going to buy a phone and stick with it... and if I am going to have it for a couple of years... I want Rev A and the extra RAM.
My biggest worry about changing phones is having to deal with the loss of the HF(with charging in the cradle) car kit that I have for my i730, the Samsung factory version. I cannot imagine not having a quality and convenient place to set my phone in for it to charge & use while driving... and from what I can see... neither the i760 nor 6800 have this available.
So I have been reading your posts for the past week now and I wanted to put in my two cents.
I was a T-Mobile customer for 5 years. I switched to the T-Mobile Wing recently. Terrible phone with terrible service. The 200mhz Processor was too slow. Plus the service was terrible. I was so frushtrated I decided to pay the $200 cancellation fee and switch. So I tried AT&T for about 2 days. Not much better. The 8525 was a nice phone but the service was spotty. No 3G where I live. Plus, they dont offer insurance on their PDA devices. I cant see paying $400 for a device with no insurance. Plus, their support service is limited on weekends.
So, I switched to Verizon. The service is great. I havent had less than 5 bars with full Internet Service. Much better than T-mobile or AT&T.
Also, when I was buying my Verizon phone, I was told the 6800 would be here in a month (that was 2 weeks ago) Also, I stopped by the local Verizon store in NY and they told me they have the dummies in and its a matter of weeks.
Using there 30day test, I jumped to ATT this week, I loving the Tilt, VZ has to wakeup.
With all due respect....
Verizon wake up??
And be more like the cell-comm company with the poorest customer satisfaction rating anywhere? The one with crappy coverage? The one with the highest churn rate?
FOOMCROTFLMAO!
There is a little more to being a cellular phone subscriber than just having to wait a little longer for a handset (that will most likely work right the first time)
I just spoke to one of customer rep to find out when xv6800 and i760 are coming out after being transfered 3-4 times. I was told that i760 will be out this friday (Oct, 19. 2007) and xv6800 is coming out in Jan 2008. This xv6800 is being pushed and pushed again. My current phone (not a smartphone) is dying now so I will just get i760 this friday. I can not wait until next year. i760 seems to be a good phone so..
