Is there any difference in VZWs 6800 and Sprints? I thought they were the same phone except VZW puts a black case.

Sprints is in a grey case. Alltell has the black case. VZW has the blue side with grey face. The buttons are different on the VZW version also.

I haven't drop one call sense I've been back. I'm working on getting a Slingbox now so I can watch any DirectTV channel on my Mogul. Now those days that the wife has me out and about on a Sunday I will be able to peek at the NFL games!!!! I'll continue to report any issues I may have. I'M SO HAPPY TO BE FREE FROM WAITING ON VERIZON TO COME OUT WITH THE XV6800!!!!
If you ordered around the 21st and it was on its way... the VERY BEST it could have done (doubtful) would be to arrive the next day, did I mention doubtful?

That would mean you had the phone for LESS than a week and NOT almost two.

Calm down fanboy.

VZW XV6800

Hi everyone,
I've been here a couple months trying to keep updated on when the VZW XV6800 might be coming out.
I finally decided to just get the XV6700 so I called VZW about it today.
The lady told me if I could wait, that the XV6800 might be coming out for the holidays but she couldn't say exactly when. She said that she didn't want me to get the XV6700 and then the 6800 come out.
Before when I called about it, they didn't seem to know anything!

So I guess I'm going to hold off for now. I have to admit though, I'm getting very frustrated waiting.

It would be interesting to know how many customers VZW acually lost over the XV6800 not coming out.

Anyway, just wanted to post what I heard.

Exclamation Late November . . . Ho Hum

First this link to see VZWs next upcoming release (with no 6800):
Good Grief

Which lends itself to this next bit o' info. I spotted this post on another forum from a fella in NY:
Got to play with the Dummy Phone
I've been following all of these xv6800 threads since day one, and kept reading about how people were going to certain store that had the dummy phone model, so i decided to give a call to all the local store around my area (I live in L.I. NY) and asked them questions about the phone. Alot of the stores had never heard of the phone, others did know about the phone but didn't have any information on it. I called one of the Circuit City around my area and the nice lady told me that she had the dummy models in the store, so i asked her if i could come by and could she show them to me. She said sure no problem. I got off work and since ive read before about how people dont believe that people have played with the phone and keep requesting pictures of it, i decided to go pick up my girlfriend and have her come with me to check the dummy phones out and while i talked to the nice sales rep i had her taking pictures with her Env of the dummy models. I spoke with the sales rep for about 45 minutes, great information she had about the phones (sounded like she knew what she was talking about) and told me that the phone will not be released until the end of November and close to Christmas time. She told me she was more than 99% sure the phone will not be released this month, more like after November 21. So while i spoke with the lady about all of the new Verizon phones, and played with the dummy model of the XV6800 and the Samsung I760 and the z6tv my girlfriend snapped pics and videos of the models.

My thoughts about the phone from just feeling the dummy model, is that the phone is so worth waiting for. It is slightly thinner than the Env. Much thinner in width and length than the I760. LOOOOOVE the blue case (although i know many of you dont like it) its not this blue rubber feeling, nor plastic around it, it has the same feel as the Env. The buttons are very nice and soft. I happened to really like the keyboard becuase the buttons are stirdy on it unlike the 8521 from cingular that buttons are all wobbely. The phone fits perfectly on your hand unlike other PPC's that are this huge brick. When u slide the screen out to show the keyboard, it slide very firmly and u dont feel it wobble. Loooved this phone and am decided to wait for it until it comes out after playing with it.

She also told me that she only had the Gleam in her database to be released this month, she said the 5th of october, i've been busy so don't know if the phone came out. Then she told me that the Blackberry Pearl and the Juke and all of the other phone are supposed to come out 4th Quarter according to the database. She told me that the Voyager is expected to come out around Christmas times. And that the I760 will DEFINETELY come out before the xv6800.

I have pictures and videos of the Dummy Models. I've Tried to Upload them but HoFo keeps telling me that file is too large to upload so can somebody give me a different (easy) way to upload the pictures and videos of the phone.

So it looks like we are going to all be getting a slightly early Christmas present from our significant others.

Wrong there Wolfie.... I was a loyal VzW customer until I realized just how much I was losing out financially because of the "network" and VzW's attitude. I like Sprint at the moment strictly because of the pricing. I have no illusions whatsoever that their customer service sucks. Sprint's pricing on their plans and phones shows just how much VzW is gouging their customers financially. Sprints voice network in my area is just as good as VzW's. Data actually beats VzW's by a long shot.

The minute Sprint changes their pricing or jerks it customers with long drawn out delays, then I'll reevaluate my carrier choice again. No fan boy here

No fan boy here
. . and no dogs waiting for bones here. It all goes back to 2 things:
- What services matter the most to you for what you pay
- What are the networks like where you live

As for where I am, Sprint drops calls like a stone-hands wide receiver. I have only had ONE dropped call with vzw in over a year. also, i like paying a little more for good customer service (but that's me - some people don't care and that's cool)

Yep, Sprint may release phones a few months earlier, but I don't exactly see them leading the way in cutting edge phones either.

The cellular company you choose doesn't make you superior. We all have our reasons for the ones we've chosen. Time to lose the attitude.

No attitude here... just the opposite. It sounds like some folks here have an attitude because they don't have a choice... it's VzW or nothing for them in their area of the country. Sorry to hear that.

Where I come from it's all about capitalism and free markets... you vote with your dollars.

Yeah, pdadb has updated their page with every month that has passed since July. In July, it said the 6800 was coming in July, in August it said August, and so on.

Yeah, and Sprint only released some phones earlier than Verizon, just as Verizon releases some phones before Sprint. I personally think there's some kind of agreement between Sprint and HTC/UTS. Sprint got the 6700 and 6800 first. On the flipside, who had the 700w first, and who will have the i760?

All I know is that Sprint is the #2 carrier in my market, and their coverage is basically worthless. Verizon has been EV-DO for a while now in my market, yet Sprint is still 1x.

Thanks for letting me know about that. Crushed my dreams, but at least this won't get my hopes up anymore.

The more I look at the ATT tilt the more I like it, do they let you test drive their network like Verizon does, anyone know?

If by "test drive" you mean do they have a 30 day return policy without penalty, then yes they do. Be aware that AT&T's data plans are a lot more expensive. You might also consider Sprint as an alternative.

Sprint... coverage, what coverage?

Like many people I have been a voyeur on this site and have just been waiting on the hopes and dreams of seeing an actual VZW release date. I know.. I know... why wait for VZW, Sprint is awesome and with the SERO plan it's a homerun plan. Unfortunately, Sprint must not care about my podunk area, even though there is a Fortune 500 company headquartered there and many other profitable companies. If Sprint were so great you think they would begin to focus on spreading their coverage area.

Sorry for the anti-Sprint tirade, but I have been in a mine before (yes.. inside a mine) and my VZW was the only phone with service. No Sprint, AT&T, etc phones even took in a glimmer of a signal.

Now, while VZW is so far from the perfect company you can't fault what they provide. I do not sign up for the VZW has awesome customer service though; that group has frustrated me so much. My favorite comment from VZW has been "We moved office locations, so it's understandable that we lost all of your paperwork".

I have been with VZW for 8 years, and while I would love to move carriers there is just no other option.

Its a federal regulation they are required to give you so much time to try it out risk free. I think its 15 days required by law.
