Last week I spoke with the manager of a Verizon store. She is the first Verizon person who will even acknowledge this existence of this phone. She indicated it was sent back to fix problems found by testers. Perhaps it is the Processor speed, perhaps the memory, perhaps both. Anyway, she said he heard "early Q2".

I may be speaking some sacreligious stuff here... but if the 6800 is due out in June, and the iPhone which looks pretty darn nice also is due in June.... I may jump ship and go Apple.... any thoughts when comparing the two?

Yes....from a business person's point of view the iPhone is just a really cool toy.

Before I could do it for my main phone, I would have to verify compatibility with MS Exchange servers, Office Docs, Excel Spreadsheets, and PDF files.

I would also have to evaluate my extensive WM library of 3rd party apps and be confident to say that I will not need a single one of them.

Now if you are talking a second weekend phone, I am all over that.

yeah I mean the iPhone has some type of tilt sensor that will automaticly turn the screen based on the angle you are holding it, it will also shut the screen off when you hold it up to your ear, a VERY nice looking web browser, 4 or 8 gig hd... nuf said.... and all kinds of other bells and whistles... The cost is a bit high even with a 2 year agreement though... but it's new tech so...

So I just got off the phone with Apples Bussiness sales line. I was told that if my people are using sprint PPC 6600 and PPC 6700, the iPhone will do what the 6800 is expected to do and more. If you need word, excel, pdf files, and exchange server, that shouldn't be a problem with the iPhone... She did say that she can't definately tell me more until release.

June is just too far away, I want to hold them both in my hands...

Angry Is the 6800 really an upgrade on the 6700?

It was just posted on Feb 12, so it MAY be the latest word (PLEASE tell me it's NOT). The news about the Processor deflated my zeal.

I was browsing and found this interesting link that has the release date as March 2007. http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=697&view=1

I also noted that is has a dramatically slower Processor speed than the 6700 and no IR capability. Also it looks like any headphone adaptors are going to be special ports. For those that are interested in the phone it appears no led flash either. Is the 6800 really a night in shining armor or more of a step back to the darker ages?

Here is the links comparison with the 6700...see for yourself.

I don't know about you guys but 1 reason (besides other things we'd be giving up) I won't bother even looking into it is because it will never (at least from what it sound's like) be a Sprint phone.

I really can't see myself leaving Sprint for a phone.....

It was leaked as part of Sprint's phone roadmap for 2007 a few weeks ago...but wasn't due until May of this year. And I feel like I've read where someone from Sprint saw an update to that list and that it's release was pushed to "TBA".

Wow- I just ran the "Compare Phones" thing on pdadb.net with the 6800 and my 6600...

Is it possible that the 6600 is actually much "better"?! That's pretty disappointing... My 6600 is dying a slow and painful death- but is this really a significant upgrade?

Wow... I'm sold. Talk about flip-flopping!

400mhz and 128mb ... that's an improvement- plus the sylings, WM5, and all the functional external buttons (is that a lock function!? - http://blogs.zdnet.com/mobile-gadget...id=101&page=16)

Now it just needs to be released...
I'm dying for news on this

Sorry, I was referring to the iPhone. I'll most likely be upgrading to the 6800.

WM5 (originally WM6 however a number of issues have prevented this, no upgrade planned)

Could all this really true? Somehow I think that if the phone wasn't rev. A capable we would have known by now. Maybe Sprint asked their people to put out dis-information so that the Verizon camp don't know exatcly what they are coming out with or when. At least I hope this is the case....

Also, I really hope that the Sprint version has a much better Processor. I was VERY dissapointed by the Processor speed that rumors are mentioning.

Well, while sprint can customize the firmware, the hardware will be the same for the sprint and vzw phones. There is no fooling vzw here.

6800 on the FCC?

I'm thinking this is the 6800/Titan, as all of the information on it has been made available by the FCC today. For the more pertinent sections, check age 7 of the final test report where it mentions this as a CDMA 1900 1XEVDO/1XRTT phone with BT, WLAN, and a mention of GPS.

Also, the final cover letter from HTC to the FCC "in response" to another letter states they'd like to have their grant issued "ASAP" due to "approaching marketing" period. I think this is proof we'll be seeing the 6800 pretty soon, but y'all might want to check and make sure I didn't miss anything big here.

Wow- great find!

Take a look at the confidentiality agreement:
https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...ive_or_pdf=pdf

The bottom of the first page requests confidentiality until March 31st 2007...
could that be hinting at something? I'm up for a new phone March 28th... this could be pretty nice.

Yeah I was kind of pumped I might get the [thanks drnezzy] from EngadgetMobile for sending that in...unless someone sent the tip in right when I did. I actually posted on here before I sent it in.

And KBAM was gonna get a big thanks for teaching us how to check the FCC site.

So now I'm training my sights on the 760 and finding that on the FCC.
