doesnt matter who i work for. many times its difficult to diagnose what the problem is as each user has their own unique environment which makes it hard to determine the ROOT cause.
hard reset will fix nearly any software issue and starting from a fresh factory state will put everything on a level playing field and can troubleshoot more effectively.
now that you say the headset port, that changes things a little. the headset port has a ring that initiates calls, such as when you have a push button on your wired headset...that push button talks to this particular ring on the port that initiates/disconnects calls...
sooo... you inserting the jack into the headset port is grounding out that ring causing the phone to make a call. if you use wired headsets often or if your headset port is damaged or loose from the circuit board, this could be your cause and would make it a hardware issue.
repair would be costly since this phone is no longer made and i would excercise my insurance if this issue is really annoying to you..
