What are we getting from insurance these days?

As the EOL has come and gone for this phone there will be a limited number of xv6800s rolling out of Asurion. So if you file an insurance claim post what you get here. New, refurb, out of stock, whatever they send ya. Always good to know info.

Dan

I got 2 "refurbished" Verizon XV-6800's about 3 weeks ago from Verizon. The first supposedly refurbished device had bright spots on the screen and the second one seems to be working ok. I may hold out until my contract expires in December and jump ship to another carrier if Verizon keeps putting out crappy phones. While I love the network and cs, I am seriously tired of being tied to 2 year contracts while the phones are outdated and crippled by the time Verizon releases them.

I didn't try Assurion but I think people are getting Moguls/XV-6800's.

Well i'm not getting it from insurance but the VZW rep told me that they were out of refurb units and would be sending me a brand new unit. I'm hoping that its something else instead though.

Oh, my Mogul just died, and I got a Touch Pro as a replacement. I posted a whole thing about it here:

Got a refurb XV8600 just yesterday for my water-damaged XV6800 here. Nothing exciting. Have several months to wait for my "new every 2" and the time to wait for that is less than ideal...

Touch Pro might have been nice. Though, mentally, I'm ready to jump onto the Blackberry-wagon if they release a BB Tour that doesn't have its wifi crippled by the time spring of next year comes along.

yeah i have the tour and the PRO. the tour is a nice phone. i had the nexhell version of the curve and enjoyed the wifi on it due to the lackluster iDEN network speed. the tour is a nice upgrade and sprint unlocked the tour so i can use it on any carrier. the wifi version of the tour will ship next year on both carriers...

I have it from Sprint and I'm on my 3rd replacement in a week and a half. I turned mine in because the alt key (dot) stopped working at all and the wifi wasn't working. Every replacement has been a refurb with a keyboard that has at least 2 keys so sticky that they are useless. 2 of them have also failed to recognize my memory card. I'd much rather have my old one back at this point, at least I knew it was only one broken key as opposed to a an assortment of both oversensitive and sticky.
