Low mic volume?

Basically I just picked up my 6800 this week and so far am loving it. For a couple years I was using a regular cell and remembered the good times with my 6600 and decided to go back to the smartphone plans. While waiting for it to arrive I was checking out some reviews for it and many of them said a big downfall was that it could be quiet at times. After getting it I immediately called a friend and he said he could hear me loud and clear. Tonight while dealing with an emergency at work I had a few instances where the recipient told me they could barely hear me. After around 5 seconds of trying to talk they could finally hear me just fine..... Hmm

I always have full signal bars so it wasn't as if I was cutting out on them, they said I just sounded like I was far away from the phone. So my question is, is there some kind of fix for this? I'm planning on getting a bluetooth set sometime this week after finding the right one but I'm wondering if it's the mic on the phone that's causing the problems or could it be a software/hardware issue from the phone itself?

Anyways thanks for any suggestions.

the phone you have is a refurb'ed phone so it probably has internal issues. if that continues, complain about it and they will swap it out for another one. i never had any issues with calls when i used the 68. there is a long thread with a cab file to increase the volume on the speaker so search for it if you would like to increase the volume. be sure to read the first couple pages of the thread then jump to the end to get the latest version...

Wait a minute.....My phone is refurbished?? I was under the impression it was brand new (of course I knew it was an old model but...). That's pretty upsetting if it's true..... However the reviews I've read were from when the phone was first launched (2007?), so they definitely didn't have the refurb models and were still having problems with low sound.

Anyways I'll check out that thread..... After I talk to my sales rep to find out why he didn't tell me they were all refurbs. :/

Thanks

yeah the odds of you having a new phone are extremely rare. that model is not even being made anymore. if you are having problems out of the box thats in line with what others have posted here over the months of getting refrubs. its been restored but thee may still be some software gremlins inside
