Two questions, hoping for some assistance

question 1) On my xv6700 I could shut the screen off and have my music still play. Now on my 6800 when I push that button for the screen, not hold the button so it powers it totally down, just push, my music stops playing. I'm using WMP (I know, I know many don't like it, but I'm fine with it) is there a way to shut off the screen (not just have it go dim) and still play music? Maybe another player?
question 2) Has anyone found a way to remap the windows button? The one below the left soft key? I want to remap it for a different program like I also could on my 6700. I went into Settings>Buttons but that key isn't available there.....can anyone help me with that?

I have used search for both of these questions, as well as look at the first 50 pages. I looked at HButton as well and it couldn't map that key either. Is there a registry that I might alter?

Thanks for any possible help in this.

It will play with a drak screen. I use an app called phonealarm which sets the brightness settings to dim after a certain time.

I am not happy with the player and cannot get TCPMP to work correctly.

Thanks for the reply....kinda sucks but oh well, hopefully someone can come up with something else latter. Just seems crazy if on the 6700 (running WM5) you can totally darken the screen (shut it off) without having the whole system shut down, and on the 6800 running (WM6.1) you have less options (system pretty much shuts down), seems like we took a step back.

are you using the stock windows media player? please dont. that thing is a memory hog. there are much better programs out there that will work with the screen off. GS player is free and bare bones but works, and then theres pocket player. there is a thread discussing what the best mp3 players are.. your search must have missed that. if you cant find ther thread, let me know, but if you search for pocket player you should find that thread.

there are others but those two work with the screen off. coreplayer works as well but is a big footprint.

Mortplayer
skins

I recommend the Mortvista skin (included, try the car interface!) or the Darkglass and clearglass skin from the skin directory. You can blank and lock the screen using either a time out or assigned button or both.

you mean when your running it right? I've just tried working with what already came on the device and adding just the few things I need, I didn't realize it was a memory hog, so in that case I'll look at other players.

Thanks

Well after reading this, I check both of them out (again) and they work generally well, but each is missing a few items, like scroll-wheel adjustment of volume and my BT headset does not work with Mort. I also noticed they do not automatically update the medial library- that's what keeps me with the Microsoft junk. Otherwise I have to manually reset the library everyday after downloading podcasts. I did notice they play a variant of mp3 that WMP does not.

TCPMP can turn off the screen while playing. Easy.

AEbuttonplus will remap the windows key.
