Have been following the thread for some time, did not want to go for replacement cause happy with 6800. Powr jack broke today, went to repair center, they say ithere's water damage and nothing they can do although power socket has nothing to do with water. Called insurance. They had 6800 in stock, I asked for T Pro, talked to another person, they agreed as courtesy. I guess if I am going through trouble of getting to repair center, hten being rejected of service on wrong basis, then for my $50 I am entitled to something more than simply 1 to 1 exchange.
1) great looks
2) screen resolution
3) full keyborad
4) more memory
5) better camera
6) tv output
7) magnetic stylus g-sensor
9) scroll control to zoom in and out
cons:
1) buttons!
2) buttons!!
3) memory card in under the battery cover
I read about short battery life, but can't see difference with Mogul. With Slide 2 Unlock it seems like battery life will only improve.
Overall be prepared to "buttons shock". There is no huge upside compared to Mogul but a number of nice features.
I went to the local Sprint store on Saturday. The cover on the two top lights has broken off my 6700 and the dial button doesn't work very well. The store rep told me that I should make a claim with Assurion and they would get me the HTC Touch Pro. I called and their rep told me that they were replacing moguls with moguls. I checked with Sprint for the upgrade and was told I could get the Touch with $400 and signing up for two more years. For those who have been able to get the Touch Pro, please enlighten me on your experience. Thanks,
also asurion will be asking for 100 bux per claim now for these high end phones... this may have been posted in here already and i apologize if i am repeating...

I called again last night - told the representative that I didn't want a discontinued phone. She told me I was in luck - their warehouse was out of 6800s and they would send me an HTC Touch Pro! Hallelujah!
Query: Does the HTC Touch Pro use the same mini-USB plug that the 6700 and 6800 use?
I know the motive behind this, you want something in return for all those cell phone insurance payments. However I have to admit, lying that your Mogul was rendered unusable, and in reality instead, intention of wanting to upgrade your phone to me has underlining tones of fraud. You guys might want to be careful on this, Sprint may catch on and you might get hit with more than just cancelled service.

There's no suggestion of fraud in any of this. After over 18 months of hard use, my phone was damaged physically and the dial button does not work very well, if at all. I was quite candid with the Asurion rep as to what I wanted and why. As a courtesy to a long-standing customer - I've been through several Samsung, Kyocera and HTC phones for over ten years - she accommodated my request. She also told me that they were out of PPC-6800s at this time. Asurion will be getting my PPC-6800 in the mail and they will be able to verify its damage.
Also, I am not under a contract at this time. Had Asurion and Sprint required me to sign a new contract and pay $300 to $400 for a new phone, I would have obviously considered going to Verizon, AT&T or some other carrier. Due to the Asurion rep's action, I and my family's monthly tab to Sprint and Asurion will continue at least for the time being.

Doesn't this go into effect on 4-1-09? Till then it will be $50
I recently forgot to take my 6800 out of my pocket before I washed clothes. Call and the replacement 6850 was here within a day or so. I had only had my 6800 a little over a month from a upgrade of the 6700.
I loved the 6800, especially the battery life.. Thats the first PDA that would last the entire day of data and voice. (and I use a lot of data !!)
I've read some pros and cons about the 6850. So far so good.. its only been a day, so time will tell.
**Also, I've been using PDAnet with the 6850 to use as a wireless modem. Its been working just fine. But for some reason on Vista I have to restart the computer before each use... So looking forward to getting back home to my Verizon FiOS...
Keep me posted on how you like the upgrade (in another thread perhaps?) I'm curious about the upgrade myself. I too love the 6800 and kinda don't want to give it up (but the Pre looks interesting)
My Mogul has been slowly deteriorating for the past several months. The down and over button no longer works, my keyboard buttons are acting funny, and just last night anytime I slide open the keyboard the screen goes off. So, I can't see what I type. Very frustrating!
I went into a Sprint Store today and I told them I didn't have insurance. The associate said he could order a replacement for $55. It will come in on Monday.
He mentioned they swap it out for the same model, but is there a chance I may get a Touch Pro instead?
I tried going the eCare route to at least get a replacement of the crappy refurb I got at the repair center 2 weeks ago if not an upgrade to a TP. This is the 4th Mogul I've had, the first died in the first week of ownership, 2 had broken usb ports, all had the white spot on the screen. The best they would do is give me an additional $75 off the online price which meant a TP for $431 and we would have to extend our contract 2 years! Woo f'n whoo. Since I now have insurance, I could go that route, but right now I think I'll just suffer with this white spot, loose keyboard and short battery life of this crappy refurb'd Mogul for a while. I'm not sure I want to invest even another $50 on this whole debacle. One big difference? My wife had been pushing for a iPhone to replace her less than stellar 755P when our contract was up and I was pushing for the Palm Pre. I'm not a iPhone guy or a at&t fan in general, but I think I'll shut up about the Pre now. Since my last Mogul died (just went into bootloader by itself and never came back), I wonder why I ever liked the phone in the first place. After dealing with eCare, I understand why Sprint is loosing so many customers. In a few months, you can subtract 2 more.
After having my dads 6700 replaced 5 times (low volume from the speaker including when on speaker phone, hardware issues, other issues) he went to the store last week and they replaced it with a Touch Pro. I want to second the guy who mentioned about doing a claim if your phones not broken. Technicly its insurence fraud to do a claim if nothin is wrong.
What a difference 2 days make. For anyone interested, Sprint and Asurion are out of refurb Moguls today! I'm still disappointed in in how Sprint handled my issue, but at least I won't have a white spot on my screen to remind me daily.
Well it's done. I called up, told them everything that was wrong with my phone(which was all legit, screwed up keyboard, defective charger etc), and the lady didn't even give me a choice. She just said ok well be sending you
a new phone. I said uh which one, and she replies with the 6850.
