Well,I may be joining theranks of the converted. I called about my 6800 and the old white spot issue and they sent me a replacement. Upon turning it on I found it to have the issue even worse than my first one. I called again and requested a different model and lo and behold they gave me mypick. No insurance, no $50, no contract (mine has been over a while now). It is currently out of stock, but they will be shipping me one out as soon as they beome available. I am kinda pumped. I hope it is all its cracked up to be, but I am worried about battery life and a lack of HW buttons. Pumped about the more ram and faster processor. Anyways, thought I would update that this worked. By the way, this is the Verizon Touch Pro - sorry.

I've got almost the same situation: verizon xv6800 with white spot but also "left" on direction pad needs extra pressure and I have a little more than a year on my contract. I wonder what they would do for me. It'd be nice if I didn't have to take the chance that they replace it with an xv6800 that is working just fine. That's why I wish they would take the xv6800 off the verizion website so that I'd be a little more confident about them offering a different replacement.
I'm having some intermittent connector issues (what's new, huh?), so asked for a replacement. No option was provided on replacing with an alternate unit, and they said the wait is indefinite for another Mogul. I also can't cancel the replacement since I've already requested it. Any advice?
Get this, Assurion has already charged me $50 for the equipment replacement, yet my replacement Mogul is indefinitely backordered. Anyone sense something wrong with that?

Jeez, that makes me wonder about Sprint. My replacement is coming, after a Verizon tech just looked at the screen spot. When I took it in, the problem I was having with the "down direction" didn't really seem to be happening (don't know why that problem got better). He decided to replace it just looking at the spot, no charge.
Well, after 3 weeks of waiting and some mild bitching at the store guys on the phone; I got my 2 replacement Touch Pros (my wife's keyboard was completely dead, and mine was getting there). Retail packages (though somewhere my box lost the spare battery and 1 gb card). I guess I better go change my profile...

And I have to get another one - I've got a rainbow distortion on one part of the screen that looks like the LCD is getting ready to delaminate. They're still on backorder, BTW.

I just called up, and I didn't say anything - the guy offered me the touch pro as a replacement.
That was easy... for me I had to call up tech support for my stuck keys issue. Went to two sprint stores and ended up having to Call up asurion, I told them exactly what happened, she apologized, offered me a touch pro and thats it.
Sprint will be refunding the $50 deductible and the touch pro is on its way. I hope its not a refurb, but as long as it works I dont care.
I lost my phone last Saturday called in for the replacement and received my 6800 on Thursday. They told me it was on back order too, but I didn't want the treo or the touch. If they would've offered me the pro, I would've taken it because of the slide down key board. What is the white screen that people are talking about, and also is there a definite successor to the 6800?

There's a white spot that develops in the lower left section of the screen. Its most noticeable with white backgrounds (like when using the calender or selecting 'programs' from the start menu).
AFAIK, the touch pro *is* the successor to the xv6800. I believe its actually referred to xv6850 in some places, but I couldn't find that reference on HTC's site or verizon's site. Its simply the "touch pro".

If you call and bring up the white spot issue do they still charge you the $50?

Yes, but you can try to take it to a Sprint store beforehand to see if they'll waive the $50. I've never tried, so don't know how successful you'll be.
If you have TEP and it's not a obvious user damage, you should get it waived. (In fact, the only time I've had to pay out to get my phone replaced was when I smashed in the screen on my 6601 due to pressure from the closure of a belt pouch; I had just had it replaced for charging issues before, and got it replaced a few months later for charging issues. That one is currently dead in a cradle on my desk).

My Mogul has the whitespot issue, as well as random EVDO drops (forces itself to 1X when EVDO is readily available), random callers can't hear me, etc.
Can I call Asurion directly? I have TEP on this phone and I'd be willing to pay the $50 for the Touch Pro...
