I just got off the phone about 20 minutes ago and am getting a replacement 6800. 3 was told that a note was added to my account that ensures any additioanl issues will allow me to choose a model. We will see what happen, but either way this will be the last 6800 for me. Hopefully it means I take the 4 hrs to get this next one set up and it works well for at leas a year. Otherwise I am jumping ship to a different model. It really is too bad as I like this phone, but I need to get settled in to a reliable model while I still have a valid warranty and I hate the wasted set up time that I will never get back.
Well, the answer to my question. Nope burn spots not fixed. Started showing up in the dimmer model just two weeks after I got it. Guess I will be sending yet another one back.
You guys have bad luck or are very hard on your phones. Like I said, I've had two Moguls that are well over a year and a half old and both are like new with respect to the screen. No burn spots, white spots, dead pixels or anything else. One has been dropped a ton and the screen is still perfect.
Maybe bad screen protectors or improper installation has something to do with the burn spots?
I have to disagree. I have been using winmo devices in one form or another since the audiovox maestro and then the axim x5. I understand the fact that these screens are fragile, but the simple fact that this number of people have the same issue in the same area points to an underlying problem. Does it merit a recall? No. Should the telcoms and manufacturers do right by their customers? Absolutely. I am glad to hear of your personal good luck with the 6800 - as I said I do like mine, but I expect to work like new until I do something that should affect it. I keep my screen protected and it is also always in a case when not in use. This has always been enough in the past and should still be now. This is most certainly manufacturer issue - and is recognized as such by Verizon.

As long as the few defective ones are replaced for free (which they are), it sounds like everything is fine. There isn't a problem with all of the screens or some underlying problem in the design of the phone that causes them all to go bad.
Perhaps earlier ones were better and the later ones and replacement ones have problematic screens. I don't know but I do know that there are plenty of Moguls that still have perfect looking screens out there. I'm proof of that.

I personally know (physical, not net "friends") 11 people who have owned this phone. All have developed the spot, including every replacement. Every one! That amounts to somewhere between 20 and 30 phones, including the 3 I've owned. My first Mogul ~8/07, my last replacement was 10/08, all were recently mfg new units and all developed the "spot" within 3 months. This is not about hard use or improper screen protectors, this is about a massive design flaw that HTC managed to get away with. I'll add that all but one of these people have moved on to other devices and don't speak fondly of it. The usual response I get from them when they see me using my Mogul is "you still use that piece of ****". As this phone is now discontinued, it's all moot. But because HTC managed to get by without a recall, mainly because there was never a loud enough owner protest, doesn't make it right or acceptable. From my point of view, when it comes to Titan ownership, my experience is the norm and yours is the exception. Lucky me....
Again, over 18 months with my Mogul with a TON of usage every single day and not even a hint of any "white spots", dead buttons, scratched paint or broken USB connector. It literally looks like new and works much better than new because of the custom ROM and various registry edits that I've done. The phone is plenty fast and gets great battery life with the 1800mAh Mugen battery. I purchased the phone brand new from Sprint in 7/07.
The only other Mogul that I know of has been used for about 14 months and didn't have any screen problems either. It was retired last month when the owner got a Touch Pro because of the VGA screen. The screen really is gorgeous on those.
I also have this phone and ive gone through 4 phones. I just called verzion and they said that its not a known isssue every time i speak with them.
First phone took a few weeks to develop bright spot, and then i swapped it out for a new one since i was within 30 days and then i got that phone and this one took a little longer but i still waited. And now im on my 3rd new phone and 4th phone and i still have bright spots in the exact same spot. Hopefully they'll finally figure out how to get me out of this mess.
I was told id be called back 3 times, none of them called me back. And one said that they never heard of this issue ever and that it was probably me who was causing them. Even though i had a refurb phone come with the burned in spot.

Verizon said to me that they didnt have this as a known issue.
And have tried taking my phone out of the case for a bit to see if anything changed, and it didn't. Still got burned in.
Ofcourse Verizon is not going to acknowledge it as a known issue. They would then have to replace all these phones within warranty. But, if they acknowledge the issue when it arises and replace them, they save A LOT of money. This is what they are doing as they just sent me a replacement 6800 that already had this issue out of the box. I called them again and they are now sending me a Touch Pro, I would say this is an acknowledgment of an issue.

Thats essentially all that i want from them. They said they would call me back tomorrow after investigating my issue to see if they could get me a replacement model. Didnt say what but i will demand nothing less than a touch pro. Did you have to talk to a supervisor? i would just they rather give me the touch pro and be over with it. It would save them shipping costs and sending me new phones.

Yeah, I'm with you. I read this thread thinking "Spots? What are they talking about?"
I spent a few minutes scrutinizing the hell out of my screen with different images being displayed. In an "all blue" screen, I can see a slightly lighter "spot" about 80% down and 20% to the right (starting at the top left).
But its barely there. I had to really, really, really look with a variety of background images. More noticeable were fingerprints and casual scratches that were my fault.
And I agree with 2000 Man, after I added decent software and the GPS hack, this phone is fraking awesome, and I use the hell out of it, drop it, etc.
Verizon sort of sucks, but from what I can tell they suck less than AT&T, Sprint and TMobile.
I've had to do that before. Let us know what they do for you.
Dan
Getting my first replacement after going into a local store for a technician to review the burn/white spot. They are shipping it since they didn't have any in stock at the store. I'll let you know how the replacement is. Its supposed to come within 2 business days.

It varies a lot with the different phones. Some don't show it at all. Some it is very annoying.
If it is there, it is much worse with a white background.
Keep plugging on the getting a different phone. Look at my earlier post - mine finally shipped today!!! Touch Pro here I come. I will try and add anything that I think might help the rest of you in following posts.
Well, I got my replacement today and it looks fine. No burn in spot. Looks like I won't be getting a touch pro anytime soon. Good luck to everyone else. Maybe the spot will develop again later The phone looks brand new, not refurb'ed but don't know how I could tell the difference. It has WM 6.0 on it, not 6.1. I'll be doing a custom rom upgrade anyway. Nice to have a nice clean phone, though, even if its not a Touch Pro. Would be extra nice to find a screen protector that I actually liked but never liked all the ones I've tried (the one in the box sucks IMHO).
