new user, can't use iGuidance with GPS... HELP!

I know that this has been gone over for various ROMs, but I can't find the answer for mine...

It has WM6.0, ROM 2.09.605.8

How can I use the built-in GPS for iGuidance, GoogleMaps, LiveSearch? Can I do it without using wifi or a data plan?

On my previous phone (Samsung i760) I was using a bluetooth GPS receiver for all of these programs, but obviously don't want to do that again.

Ok... update...

I installed the MR1 ROM and follow instructions from this link:

XDADeveloperWiki - Verizon AGPSFix

Google maps and Windows Live Search work, but iGuidance 3.0 does not. Any suggestions?

My Iguidance works just fine after installing the GPS GATE 2 for PPC.

Here's a link: GPS splitter, simulator and logger. Serial port splitter. - Franson GpsGate

there's a 14 day trial, then if you're happy, you can purchase it.

what are your settings on gpsgate? It does not seem to help.

The problem I'm having with iGuidance is that it sees satellites, but is skipping around like crazy. Then after a few minutes of that it simply shuts down and doesn't see any satellites.

All of this leads me to believe that it has something to do with iGuidance, not the actual GPS receiver. After all, it works perfectly fine with LiveSearch and GoogleMaps.

GPSGate 2 settings on my 6800 that work perfectly with Iguidance 4.0:

Input = WM GPS

Active Output:

GpsGate Direct
Virtual COM2

Advanced:
Default
Active is checked

That's about it. Works for me.

I love you!!!
If you were a woman I'd.... well, I guess I'm trying to say "Thank you!" That solved my problems (the GPS ones anyway).

I've been using iGuidance for a couple of years now, first with my 6700 and now with my 6800. I use a separte GPS receiver that connects to the 6800 via BT and the set up works beautifully. I'd like to see if I can get GPS up and running on the 6800. Is there a thread somewhere that will take me through the steps?

I use mine every day. . . . . starts yellow goes to green in about 5 seconds +-

If you make or receive a phone call the gps drops out. As soon as you hang up the gps comes back.

With GPSGATE running, open it's menu, go to settings, then when in the gpsgate settings screen, select the "Output" tab and remove the entry for "online.gpsgate.com". That should do it. Justin
