Typing on Keyboard makes duplicate letters! Help! NEED FIX!

While typing in text messages, or folder or file names, or anything that I use the slide out keyboard for, I have a problem (and so does my friend who lives next door) of the text coming on screen with double and triple letters whenever it feels like it! It is almost like a button delay needs to be set for a longer time.

Does anyone else have this problem, or have a fix for it!

Whoever fixes this is me and my friends new HERO!!!

example:

myyyy keyyybooard is sssscrewwwwed uppp!

PPPPPllleasseee fixx ittt.

(maybe not quite so bad, but you get my point)

I have the same problem, but I am going to live with it until the HTC Pro is released.

What a relief! I thought it was my bad typing. At least I have another reason to hate Verizon!

Keyboard - Sprint

I can't say I hate Verizon because I'm with Sprint and I am happy with SERO.

I fixed a problem like that by spraying a little contact cleaner on the keyboard. I used a plastic safe stuff called Caig Pro Gold.

Obviously that doesnt have anything to do with loving or hating either carrier, its simply an equipment problem. I just had mine replaced for this, a store can repair it, or if you can find something else wrong with the other half of the phone at the same time then you stand a pretty good chance of getting a replacement.

Contact cleaner wont help unless you're disassembling the phone since the keyboard is a solid membrane rather than individual keys so theres no way to work the cleaner behind it. Gold or DeOx-It WILL definitely help if you're having problems with the keys on the face, i.e. OK, phone or softkeys.

Is there anyway to initiate or lengthen a delay that may help with the issue if the key is getting held down somewhat?

Actually, the keyboard keys are NOT a large solid membrane. Which I believe is part of the problem and it lets dirt in.
And the D-pad, OK, send, end keys and such ARE a large single membrane.

The brainiacs at XDA uncovered this file.

HTC_Titan_KeyFix.zip

I installed it, did a soft reset (which probably wasn't necessary, but I'm anal like that) and it seems to work fine now.

I had this problem .. if you take it in the store they will actually just replace the keyboard and problem fixed. (I had a usb port problem as well, so they replaced my whole phone, but if that was not the case, they just replace the keyboard)

It works

I thought my keyboard was going bad the past few month. I installed the patch and now it works perfectly again. Takes away some frustration. Thanks a bunch!!
