I'm new to the xv6800 coming from an i730. Yes, I've read most of the posts and faqs here and at ppcgeeks. But I'm still confused about a bunch of stuff, and I'm hoping that those more experienced and wise than I might be able to help.
There are two things I miss from the i730. First, being able to control device volume from the thumbwheel (or any other hardware button) would make me happy. Heck, even a mute/no mute toggle would be super. I've seen a recent thread for this and will watch there. Second, one of the best things about the i730 was MRailing's PhoneHelper. When you started the phone application, hitting the left of the DPad brought up your speed dial list, and hitting the right side brought up your call history. Super handy, and really allowed me to make calls easily without fiddling with voice dialing. Does anything like this exist for the Titan? Failing this, is there any utility which would allow me to assign buttons to operations within a particular application?
Finally, I'm overwhelmed by all of the interface enhancements. Cube? TouchFLO? HTC Home? Is there a simple site where I can go to understand what they do and how they'll change my life?
This will give you the "D" pad functions you seek. As to the interface enhancements, I'm old and set in my ways, I just use SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Diary.
Good Luck,
Bob

only thing I can help you with is the toggle on/off of the volume. Using AEButton Plus (just google for the link), you can assign a hardware key to toggle between vibration/volume on/off modes.
Just wanted to say thank you for the quick, helpful responses I've received. AEButton Plus and Softskey are just what I was seeking and really improve the usability of the device. Thanks a ton!
I really couldn't live without pocket plus. It's great and provides a nice clean today screen yet allows every app I need quick access to, to be right there. The cube and touchFLO are copies from the touch and the iPhone interface. I personally don't care for them, IMO they take to much memory for me. Just a personal opinion and it might be different on your phone than mine.

For what it's worth, on my Sprint Mogul, the thumbwheel does control the volume when in phone mode and when using the media player. Not apparent if you aren't actually in one of those apps, but when you are it does.
