Thumbs up How to change ppc6800 housing tutorial

This was my first time trying to change my Mogul housing and was successful in doing so. I recorded it and uploaded it for others who are interested in changing their housing if it's broken or they just want to change the color.
It's on youtube and had to split the tutorial into 3 videos, here you go...

YouTube - How to change ppc6800 housing part 1

YouTube - How to change ppc6800 housing part 2

YouTube - How to change ppc6800 housing part 3

GoodLuck

Is there one for swapping the keyboard after the paint rubs off and the lettering is jacked?

Talking

Revised part 2 video, there was nothing wrong with it but I noticed I repeated the first few minutes on the ending of video 1. Anyways, here's the link for the revised video 2....
YouTube - How to change ppc6800 housing part 2

Growler67 - Not sure if your asking if there is a video for swaping the keyboard but if that is your question then you just look at the video and only do the steps up to the keyboard part. I don't know if there are parts you can just buy like only the keyboard. Maybe there is but I'm not sure. You can try ebay to see if someone is selling parts of the phone.

mbeliss - yes, nuprotocol is correct that is where I purchased it from they also go by tech-zone4world.com, From Hong Kong. I remember a while back I was searching on the internet and found this guy that also sells them, sorry i don't remember the name. Remember what I said in the video about the vibrator rubbing against the case. the trick is to use double sided tape. Good Luck.

Lovegadets you got some balls (metaphorically ) taking apart a $500 phone. Is the new case nice and smooth and feel like the oem. It seems "plastic-e" in the picture.

lovegadgets: great work on the videos. nice of you to share this for all.

everyone: I am interested in buying your old OEM case if you manage to remove it in like-new condition. I want to experiment with a custom paint and mod job so I don't want to buy a new black case. If you want to sell your old OEM case then send me a PM with the price including shipping to TN.

Saw another thread here about the paint wearing off of the keyboard and someone said they could be swapped out.

BTW, Thanx 4 making the videos.

I like the way it feels and looks. It kinda feels like the oem but I like the feel of the black one. When I purchased it I was hesitant but came out ok. the only 2 things I did not like which anyone who is going to try this should keep in mind is: the battery cover doesn't fit like the original one but it's not a big deal for me. Also video 3 at the end there could be a problem with the vibrator if you dont use the double sided tape.

Nice work, was this the first time you had taken this or any phone apart? I would have personally been really nervous video taping my first try.

Felt bad about the tools you had to use, but you did a great job.

Those plastic ipod casing splitters and mini torx 6 & phillips screw drivers on ebay, are worth the investment. Even if you only use them once. I have used old credit cards to pry open cases but they don't have the leverage and start to fry quick and I end up using my nails.. Flat head screw drivers just totally scratch up and nick the edges.

BTW I was trying to figure out where you're from with that accent, it was like a New Yorker.. But then in your speed dial post you added a Miami area code. Did Andy get many unknown callers?

Are you on any of the other PDA/PPC forums? XDA-developers or PPCgeeks.com?

Was a great watch, Big Kudos!

Yes you got it real good guess, I am a new yorker. Andy needs friends anyways...LOL. When I want to figure something out with my phone I try to search all forums. They are a very big help! I did it because I cracked the original case a bit so that's why I took the chance. Glad it worked. I like the black housing a lot. Thanks.

Just FYI for everyone.... The video I did to make the Garmin maps work with the Mogul built in gps chipset really sucked to see that viewing it on you tube is REALLY blurry. I made a link available for the good quality video and other files needed for the tutorial. I have no idea why it came out blurry on youtube. It's ok, for anyone interested can always ask me anyways. I posted....

Visit this link

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Includes everything you will need to make your garmin maps work with your Mogul ppc6800 gps chipset. I also included the video part 1 and 2 of the video. Youtube displays it VERY blury poor quality.

Next to the download button enter letters you see then you can download the file.
