ok, i have been searching and reading for the past week, i can't seem to understand what any of this means.
i tried to find and install Unified Project Team AKU 3.5, i went to ppcgeeks.com and all i could find were dead links. even then i have no idea what this program will do.
also, i have been reading about the over clocking thing as well. again, i am so lost and confused on how to get the programs on to my 6700 and to run them.. so far all i have been able to do is get agile messanger.
what i am trying to accomplish with my 6700, is to speed it up, go around the shutting down programs manualy, and to be able to view java related things on line. not matter what i have tried nothing has worked.
oh i also installed macromeidia, well at least i think it installed.
can someone explane what i need to do to get the Unified Project Team AKU 3.5 to work, what it will do for me, and how i can overclock, all i want is 512.
at least give me a link to a good thread.. but i am just running around in circles. and i am in the process of getting me mini sd card.
mike,
Since you seem adamant on 3.5, try this - it was good 20 minutes ago: ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@ftp.ppcgeeks...Kitchen_R4.rar
"It's one of the older codes, but it still checks out...."
There's a problem with the ppcgeeks FTP (file server) - somebody keeps deleting the files - either maliciously or noobishly - so many of the old roms are gone.
Re. terminology, if I remember right there was a Unified Project Team that worked on the first 3.5 kitchen (release 1.0), but that moniker was dropped in later releases. (There was no standalone unified rom, just the kitchen, which is a rom-building toolset). The link is to the "New Kitchen" release 1.04. - someone just re-uploaded it last night. There was a subsequent "Official Kitchen" release 1.04 that's essentially the same - it's not on the FTP.
You might be better off with the new WM6 kitchen - it's actually quite a bit more user-friendly in rom creation than any of the WM5 releases were. It also includes the overclocking OEM (that seems to not actually overclock) you may have read about. You can find the WM6 kitchen here: Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) - UPDATED 20071108 - PPCGeeks
Good luck. tmb
Keep in mind, you are taking a risk when flashing your phone to a new rom - things can break at this stage. So please don't blame anyone here or on ppcgeeks if you happen to be one of the few that has real trouble.

Also, if you want to overclock then you can use an app called Hack Master. I use it and it is very easy to use. Most people stay at 520Mhz but can go as high as 624Mhz. If you need screenshots or how-to's then just lemme know.
ok so i downloaded Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) - UPDATED 20071108 - PPCGeeks. and unziped it on my comp. all i see is a list of programs. how do i install it.
After you unzip it and have it on your desktop (or wherever you extracted it to) you connect your PPC to your PC via USB cable and let it sync. The place your PPC in Bootloader mode by pressing and holding both the Power button on the top of your device PLUS holding the Record button on the side of your device. This will turn the backlight of your screen off and should read either Serial or USB on the screen. It will say Serial if you do not have the USB cable connected and it will read USB if you do have the cable connected. If it says USB then you are good to go forward. Go back to where you extracted your files and you will have a file called "ROM Upgrade" I think. Click on it and follow the prompts. It is very easy but keep in mind there should be a ReadMe file in that folder.
The kitchen installer and OEM package are intended to run on a PC, not your phone. You use them to create and flash a new rom image to your phone.
It's been over a week since I last did this, and things may have changed. This is what I remember:
1. Download and run the kitchen installer file. This will create a new folder called \BuildOS on the c: drive of the computer. It will also create a couple shortcuts on the desktop.
2. Download the ppcgeeks OEM.rar file - save it to the new c:\BuildOS folder. (Do not unrar it.)
3. Read the tips.txt in the c:\BuildOS folder.
4. Read the first 3-4 pages of the release thread on ppcgeeks (at least).
5. Sync your phone using activesync. (DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU CAN'T SYNC.) Then disconnect the phone and place it in bootloader mode like Weedahoe said. Note your bootloader version number (1.00, 1.02, 1.04, 2.02, 2.04, or 2.05); it's the number on the dark screen.
6. Go to the desktop, double-click on the chef icon, and cook your rom (don't be too greedy; you'll have to do it over again). Typical symptoms of an overfull rom are out-of-memory errors in the kitchen, hanging at the splash screen after hard-reset, and white or multi-color screen after hard reset.
6.a. - Be sure to pick the right RUU (rom upgrade utility) for your phone and bootloader. There's a box at the top of BuildOS window that says "Standard". This works for most phones running bootloaders other than x.04 or x.05. Change it to x.04 if you have a 1.04, 2.04, or 2.05 bootloader. The third option is NoIDRUU - use this only if you try Standard and get a CountryID error later.
6.b. - Save your selections using a unique name. The resulting .txt file will be the identifier of your custom rom. Selections that are known memory hogs - any extra themes and dialers, Office 2007. Selections that have known performance problems - HTC Home, Vogue Dialer, Touch Dialer, HTC X-button (2.0 only, 1.5 is good).
6.c. - Press the green triangle/arrow at the top and follow prompts. There will be an HTC Encoder project selection window that comes up - be sure to make sure you're in the right folder when you select your carrier.prj file (mainly a problem for past kitchen users). The folder should be c:\BuildOS\Tools
7. The RUU program should start automatically. When the program asks, with your phone in bootloader, connect it via USB (no hubs or remote ports allowed, get as close to the motherboard as you can.)
8. Cross fingers, say prayers, wait 5-7 minutes for 100% complete.
9. Hard Reset (not soft).
10. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Hmmm.. still have problems.. its hanging upt on white screen.. so i went back and took somethings off.. but im not sure what i need and what i don't
This works for me. Drop the attached txt in your BuildOS folder then select it in BuildOS. It's got HTC Home (which I have disabled for the time being) and HTC Xbutton 2.0 (which works but has issues). Good luck.
