Does this happen to anyone else?

I've been finding that latley, when I'm sliding my keyboard in and out, it won't fully switch back. This happens most often when I'm in my text messages folder. For example, I'll get a text message, read it, select reply, continue to send my reply by sliding my keyboard out. Once i'm finished and I close the keyboard slide, the bottom half of the screen will stay in the panoramic view(as if the keyboard were still out) while the top half reverts back.

Also, If i hit the OK button, the today screen is fine, but every time i reopen the text message folder, it stays split like that until i soft reset.

Any ideas?

Sometimes it happens to me also but if I close and reopen on keyboard it will usually correct itself. How much ram do you still have available? Have you done any reg tweaks and edits to any of your cache?

I'm running WM6 currently and I have 6.61 MB of Storage memory available as well as 16.88 of Program memory. I feel like thats enough RAM available to at least not cause any problems.

As far as the reg edits for my cache, I haven't done anything like that. If you think that may correct the problem, I'd be willing to give it a shot. How would I do that?

Increase font cache
To increase the font cache, speeding up font rendering at the cost of a bit of memory:
HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 (DWORD decimal)
To change it back to the default:
HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 8192 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like

Enable FileSystem cache
To enable the FileSystem cache, speeding up overall performance at the risk of the cache not being written on a sudden reset:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To disable again:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 0 (DWORD decimal)

Note that by default, the cache size is zero, and you will see no effect. See "Increase FileSystem cache" to incease the cache size

Increase FileSystem cache
To increase the file system cache:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
To return the file system cache to zero:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like

Increase FileSystem filter cache
To enable the file system filter cache, speeding up overall performance with file mangement:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
To return the file system filter cache to zero:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like

I dont like running the 67 in the teens on memory when I see that it is...I do a soft reset to get back up in the 20's....it starts to act funny and slow when in the teens.....you are already at 16.88 without any tweaks.....as weed, posted.....when you increase or hack....you will eat up alittle more of your memory..and will be in the low teens...which will not be good and that is with out any programs open yet or texting...answering calls..etc....it might start to freeze up here and there.

You might be better with the "clean and simple" rom...which is nice and gives you alot of internal memory to play with and speed.

I've been playing around with the phone after you suggested that it may be memory and it seems the problem is directly related to how much program memory I have available.

As far as switching to the clean and simple ROM, I happen to love WM6 so I'm very hesitant to switch off it. Is there any hack or anything else I can do to increase my program memory?

yea...WM6 Beta is a love and hate OS.....I believe someone is working on a "clean and simple WM6" and will come out in the future with all the tweaks/problems worked out....so if you like it that much and are willing to deal with it....but most people that have switch to WM6 beta have switch back to WM5...till a better WM6 is released.

*sighs*

Hate to sound rather rude and abrupt - regarding clean WM6 and such - no one is making one anymore!

You'll have to 'cook' your own WM5/WM6 ROM. It can be just an OS, or you can add a few ingredients to whatever it is you'd like on it. It's been addressed time and time again...here's the original post.

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...6-kitchen.html

I doubt Helmi will make another one, because a clean basic one is available, and remember - it's customizable. Try it out, you won't be disappointed. Consider the post/link the ultimate secret to making full and efficient use out of your PPC. Unless your hardware is crapping out, there's not much more memory wise it can do.

Zone,
I agree with you that there may still be some memory optimizing/tweaking to do on the WM6 builds - RobMayer's C&S series seems to be the current focus. I'd only note that helmi_c's WM6 is no longer beta - the official kitchen was released last week, and unlike helmi's initial test rom, there doesn't seem to be a big rush back to WM5_3.5. I think the kitchen itself has been revised a few times, but I'm still running fine using the very first official kitchen. The overall response has been much, much more love than hate, a very positive "Not going back!"

I also agree that running low on program memory (RAM) can cause issues, but in my experience, it's certainly never been a problem if I had more than 6-7 MB free. We should all be careful not to oversimplify; the file system cache is not a memory/performance panacea. Mine is set to zero, RAM is about 14MB, and P/L switching is still less than 1 second.

TMB..Arzal....thanks....did not know there was another release that is much better then the orig.and that you can start cooking your rom wm6 need to start checking up on PPCGeeks....

I am going to set my "file system cache" back to zero and maybe get back alittle memory, I more or less run on 20-25mb program memory and the 67 seems to be very happy with that amount not that it matters getting alittle bit more, but hey if I can I will.

Again thanks for the low down on the present WM6.
